Saints Perpetua and Felicity were both young mothers who were martyred on the same date, 7th March 203 in Africa. They are the patron saints of mothers, expectant mothers, ranchers and butchers.

St Katharine is one of the first few Americans to be canonised. Believing in the power of education, Katharine founded the Sisters of the Blessed Sacrament to provide religious education to the Native American and African American communities, and opened a number of mission schools for them. Her feast day is March 3rd.

St Polycarp is a second-century saint. He was a disciple of John the apostle and later became bishop of Smyrna which is in modern-day Turkey. He is the patron saint for ear aches! His feast day is on February 23rd.

St Peter Damian is celebrated as Bishop and Doctor of the Church. He was well known for his discipline and tenacious ways. In his retirement, he continued to give honour to the Church by practicing humility and penance. His feast day is on February 21st.

The Seven Holy Founders of the Servite Orders were 7 merchants in the 13th century, who each had a mystical experience of the Blessed Virgin Mary. They dedicated their lives to honor the Blessed Virgin Mother. They are honoured on February 17th.

It is understood that Onesimus was Philemon's slave. Whilst in prison for stealing from Philemon, Onesimus met Paul and through their conversations, Onesimus was converted. Paul wrote a letter to Philemon appealing for Onesimus' freedom, so that Onesimus could become one of his own assistants. Later in his life, Onesimus became an ardent preacher of the Gospel and succeeded Timothy as bishop of Ephesus.

St Scholastica was born in Italy in the 5th century. She founded the female branch of the Benedictine Order. She is the Patron saint of nuns and female religious people. Her feast day is on February 10th.

St Josephine Bakhita is a 19th-century Sudanese saint. She was sold into slavery at the age of 9. Lovingly known as “little brown sister”, she remained cheerful and never lost faith. She is the patron saint of Sudan and survivors of human trafficking. Her feast day is on February 8th.

St Jerome Emiliani is a 15th-century Italian saint. He tirelessly worked for little children especially orphans and also taught the children about the Catholic faith. He is the patron saint of orphans and abandoned children. His feast day is on February 8th.

St Agatha was born around 231 and is one of the most highly venerated virgin martyrs of the early Church. She is the patron saint of bellfounders, breast cancer patients, rape victims, and nurses. Her feast day is on February 5th.
