Questions for Reflection:

Why do we struggle with our will versus God's will?

Can you think of times where you felt the will of God impressed upon you?

Can you think of times you have chosen to ignore the will of God? When? How? Why? What did it make you feel?

What helps you understand and discern Gods will?

What role does the Holy Sprit play?

On 24 February 2019, Paul Vrolijk spoke on Psalm 65, Revelation 4, Luke 8:22-25.

Questions for Reflection:

1) The fact that quite different readings can speak to us as ‘one’, how does that work with this particular set of readings?

2) Have you ever felt ‘overwhelmed’? What are our first instincts? Do you feel overwhelmed now?

3) It was suggested that faith could be the highest comfort, when you know who asks the question ‘where is your faith?’. What does that mean for you?

4) You may want to think about what is overwhelming with someone else. If you do, then pray for one another, crying out to Jesus.

On 17 February 2019, Fiona Simon spoke on Matthew 13:24-34 and Matthew 6:9-13. She used three of Jesus's parables to help us understand what it might look like when God's Kingdom is realised here on Earth.

Questions for Reflection:

What does the prayer "Your Kingdom come" mean when you pray it?

If you woke up tomorrow and found God’s Kingdom had come, what would be different?

Jesus used many different images and explanations to help people understand what the Kingdom of God is like. Which one resonates most with you?

What do you find most challenging about Jesus’ teaching on the Kingdom (generally or within the parables in Matthew 13)?

Can you think of any examples of God planting a seed of an idea which has grown and spread bringing Kingdom transformation to a situation?

Think about the situation in which you work/study. What Kingdom yeast would you like to see worked into the mix?

Are there ways in which you could initiate this change?

It may seem like a very small thing, but that is how yeast works. You may want to pray for these things and maybe come back to them in future weeks.i

On 17 February 2019, Paul Vrolijk spoke at the 10:30 service on Psalm 1, Jeremiah 17:5-10 and Luke 6:17-26.

Questions for Reflection:

1) The ‘two ways’ presented to us in the readings, how do you respond to that? Spot on? Or too simplistic?

2) Reflect on the ‘barren parts’ of your life? Have you tried to reach ‘the living water’? How does that work best for you?

3) What Jeremiah says about the heart (Jeremiah 17:9) and Jesus (Luke 6:44-45).....do you agree with that diagnosis?

4) Have you ever prayed the prayer, Jeremiah 17:14?

On 10 February 2019, Jeremy Heuslein spoke at our 18:00 service on Exodus 3:1-17 and Matthew 6:9-13 in our series on the Lord's Prayer. He focused on the holiness of God's name and our response to it.

Questions for Reflection:

1. Does a specific name for God or title used for God resonant with you in particular?

2. What would it look like to invite the holiness of God into your life today?

3. If every breath were a prayer of God's name, how would that affect your day?

On Sunday, 3 February 2019, John Wilkinson spoke on Matthew 6:9-13, beginning our series on the Lord's Prayer with "Our Father in heaven," which he noted, can sometimes be very difficult to pray.

Some questions for reflection:

1. How does addressing God as ‘Father’ help us or hinder us in our praying?

2. What difference does it make to think of God as ‘in heaven’?

On Sunday, 27 January 2019 at our 18:00, Jeremy Heuslein spoke on Luke 4:14-21 and Psalm 19, reflecting on the challenging aspects of Jesus ministry to proclaim good news.

Some questions for reflection:

(1) Where in your own life do you need to hear good news? How might that news change the way you live?

(2) Has there ever been a time when you felt close to God? Has there ever been when you felt challenged by God?

(3) What would it look like for you to rest in the year of the Lord's favor, or to bring it further our world?
