After a nice week off, getting fat with heavy dinner foods, and spending time with family, Adam and Mike are back at it, drinking sparkling water and dissecting Billboard's Top 40 hits from this week 25 years ago. We will take a look back on some of the biggest songs of the year 1993 by an insanely diverse handful of artists. Pop princesses, one-hit-wonders, stone cold divas and some of the biggest bands in the world bring you the songs that populated the airwaves a quarter of a century ago.

For the first time, Nineteen Ninety What is going though Billboard's Mainstream Top 40 Pop chart. These were the songs getting the most radio airplay on pop stations in November of 1993. Before we get into the songs, though, Mike reaches into the "Sorting Hat" to pull out a classic TV show, a video game and a movie from 1993. Fortunately, he had great picking skills, and we got to discuss Beavis and Butthead, Mortal Kombat II and our all-time favorite movie, Jurassic Park. This half of the pop chart was filled with a lot of early 90's R&B, like Toni Braxton, Janet Jackson and Tony Toni Toné, as well as a some alt rock like the Gin Blossoms, and classic rockers, like Billy Joel, John Cougar Mellencamp, and Aerosmith.

Mike and Adam get ready for Halloween by listening to some of the greatest songs from the scary movies of the 90s. From the kid friendly classics like Tim Burton's A Nightmare Before Christmas to the late 90s slasher film resurgence, there is a little bit of everything, across multiple genres. You'll hear more from everyone's favorite punching bag, Creed, yet another great Rob Zombie rocker, Pantera, Guns N' Roses, Juliana Hatfield, Kottonmouth Kings, and Sonic Youth. We'll even get into one soundtrack that had a bunch of great pop-punk tunes from the likes of Blink-182 and the Vandals. Don't get too scared when Adam saves Mike from a large and sinister deadly arachnid. Everyone survives the night. For now...

Adam has a surprise for an unsuspecting Mike, who foolishly believes this will be a standard episode, where we discuss the Billboard charts for 1991. Instead, we are going to listen through Nirvana's landmark album from that year, Nevermind. With the Drumming Power of David Grohl, the growling bass of Krist Novoselic, and the genius of Kurt Cobain, Nevermind changed things in music and in culture, in new and unexpected ways. The record label was capping their expectations for its performance at Gold, but the thing eventually went Diamond. Come on, people now, and listen with us and hear why this was such a groundbreaking album and develop a newfound love for this timeless classic.

Mike and Adam overcame sickness, car troubles, missing equipment and technical issues to bring you the conclusion to the Mainstream Rock Chart from 19 years ago. And boy did they ever regret it. Come back to a time when Kid Rock and Limp Bizkit were battling it out on the airwaves. The infectiously Smooth sound of Santana--featuring Rob Thomas-- was quite literally everywhere. The Offspring, Tonic, Creed, Bush, LIVE, and Filter all make their return, and we hear from one of the best Red Hot Chili Peppers' albums. Also, almost inexplicably, Def Leppard, Great White and Lynyrd Skynyrd all show up on this chart. In 1999.

To honor one of the great American Songwriters, at this, the first anniversary of his passing, Adam takes Mike through one of Tom Petty's most significant decades. If you thought of Tom as a 70's classic rocker or as a splash from the 80's new wave, you may be surprised at the growth and transitions made before the end of the century. There are Heartbreakers albums, solo records, important guest spots, supergroups and side projects. As a 90's rock podcast, we could think of no better way to pay tribute and our respects to one of the most legit artists ever to rock a Rickenbacker. Rock in Peace, Thomas Earl Petty.

Many surprises lay in wait for you in this, the final year of the nineties—not the least of which is one of the most popular hair bands of the eighties breaking back onto the charts. The bearded bad boys of blues-rock, ZZ top, make an appearance. Foo Fighters, Lenny Kravitz, Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers, NIN and STP return. Lit, blink-182, Oleander and Our Lady Peace show up for the first time. Staind, Buckcherry, Alice in Chains, Queensryche... You're just gonna have to listen!
