4 Tips To Beat The Heat This Summer for Your Air Conditioning System - Download your PDF file for FREE at SimmonsOneHour.com
• #1 Air Filters - You should be changing your air filters every 30 days. If you are not having to change your filters every 30 days because your filter isn't dirty, then there is a problem with your duct system. Air is getting out somewhere and isn't going through the filter; and that is a problem we need to address.
• #2 Check your Thermostat - When first switching from heat to cool or vice versa, we have a lot of customers say that their heat or cool isn't working. A lot of times this is because it isn't set on the correct mode. Some thermostats have the auto option; this is where you preset the thermostat to switch to cool if it gets above a certain temperature or switch to heat if it gets below a certain temperature. Auto is the best option.
• #3 Refrigerant - If every season you are needing to recharge your system with refrigerant, this means that there is a leak somewhere. Your system is sealed and shouldn't need to be recharged every season...recharging is just a band-aid solution; we need to find the leak and permanently fix the problem.
• #4 Proper Drainage - We do a lot of water removal from homes because your HVAC system is basically a dehumidifier. Our area has a lot of humidity, therefore we need to make sure that the water is draining from the system, to the outside. In order to ensure that your drain lines don't become clogged and overflow inside your home, they need to be cleaned regularly.
Our Exclusive Comfort Club Members get this done twice a year because the cleaning of the drain lines is something we cover in our 84 point safety inspection twice a year. The reason it needs to be cleaned is because you haven't used your AC since last summer; and all winter and most of the spring it hasn't been used, so when you begin using your AC a lot, it could cause it to become clogged and overflow, resulting in water damage to your home.
