This (somewhat) brief preview sheds light on the dis-ease that has preoccupied our collective consciousness since early 2020. What we knew, when, and how have been topics of great debate, and I would like to toss my notes into the ring...

Injuries strike at unexpected, devastating intervals, with profound effect... they slow us down, keep us from doing what we love, and remind us how fragile we are. Building resilience is not always straightforward, but we are gaining ground in the race to better evaluate our weaknesses and prevent further injuries.

I love poetry (as I mentioned in my podcast on Portals) because a poem can transport us to the boundless realm of imagination... It almost doesn't matter what the words say; what matters is how they make you feel, where they takes your thoughts, what the poem makes you want to do once you set it down.

Often I fall into the trap of thinking that I'm not creative or original, especially when I come across a work of genius like this. But to take my own advice, the best thing we can do is APPRECIATE a work of art, and not condemn ourselves for not being capable of replicating its brilliance... at least, not yet.

This episode is the first of many recitations - some from memory, some read from the page - that will highlight my favorite poems and oratory works, and may include some of my subjective reactions to the poem's meaning.

When I think of Portals, I think of magical thresholds that have the power to transport me anywhere: backwards in history, forward to the future, into realms of fantasy...

Sounds kinda crazy, yes? Well, the beauty of imagination is that it can be entirely real and un-real at the same time, and only sounds crazy to those outside of its dimension. In a more tangible sense, I think we have access to these Portals through great books, epic music, deep conversations, honest writings, acts of love, and more! 

This episode is dedicated to exploring that thought and encouraging you ALL to seek out the media through which you can leave the confines of this moment to touch your potential.

Everyone's taste and preference is different, but my hope is that we all might find some common threads that help weave a magnificent and timeless tapestry... THAT is the power of a Portal.

My deep love of tennis has moved me to re-connect with various aspects of the game: coaching, playing, watching, reading, etc. What I could not have anticipated was the discovery of data that would capture my attention...

I am so grateful to Jeff Sackmann for his work in collecting and organizing decades-worth of tennis statistics. He has artfully turned that collection into a fascinating data set that has become the go-to resource for people like myself, as well as world-class professionals such as Iga Swiatek and her team.

Having followed his work throughout this year, I knew I had to have him on the podcast to indulge some of my questions as a tennis and baseball fan, and to better comprehend his massive undertaking to be the pioneer of modern data capture.

Are you open to constructive criticism? If you ask for someone's advice, will you listen even if it doesn't sound easy or sexy?

It's not easy to always be receptive to outside guidance, but if we are feeling stuck or uncertain, an external perspective can be just the ticket. In this episode, I tackle a question that hasn't been asked much since the days of town soccer and tennis try-outs: are you coachable?

This isn't exclusive to people working with trainers, coaches, mentors etc. We are constantly engaged in feedback loops; whether we choose to use their momentum to our advantage is another matter. If we want change, we need stimuli. If we need access to a new path, we need a guide.

Many paths lead up to the mountain, but who would you choose to lead you? As always, questions begin the discussion, and the answers are up to you...

I knew this day was coming, but it's still hard to say: Roger Federer has retired from professional tennis. For 24 years of my 28 years on this earth, Roger has been the consummate gentlemen's champion, fan-favorite, and family man. 

It's been hard to learn the intimate details of his adult life, but thanks to the passage of time, there is a surprising and entertaining amount of information now available to round out the romantic image of the Swiss Maestro. There are countless other monikers to describe Fed, but for me, he's simply the best role model I have ever seen.

In this episode of Who's to Say?, I share my perspective on his career and his personal impact on his fans. He will be missed tremendously, but we have enjoyed over 1,000 matches, incalculable moments of raw effort and baffling grace, all of which will live on forever more.

My first encounter with the censorship influences of Meta and social media companies really stirred me up...

At the risk of making a mountain out of a molehill, I thought it would be productive to air my grievances with how this played out. I believe "sharing is caring", insofar as we can best express our concern and empathy through sharing our experiences, so that we can better heal and comprehend the dis-ease we encounter.

The only thing more nefarious and degrading than censorship is self-censorship. This is a small effort to take back some ground we have lost... and as always, thank you to the people who engaged with my content and motivated me to address this for myself and on this platform.
