Roots --- Ruth 1:16-17

One of the best examples of Christ-like love comes from Jesus's own family tree. Boaz plays the part of the kinsman redeemer; a model of savior to redeem a tragic situation. But this book begins with arguably the more poignant acts of love, that of Ruth's loyalty and devotion to Naomi. Boaz welcomes Ruth into prosperity but it's Ruth's love for her mother in-law that ultimately saves both women from the bleak future that would have been so likely in their society.
