Like It --- Matthew 25:34-40

From the examples of Jesus himself to the demonstrations led by Dr. Martin Luther King, it is clear that the world changes when people join together to help one another. Loving God is one thing, but it falls flat if we don't demonstrate the same love to God's people, especially for those most in need. As we transform the Foundry into our future home, we reaffirm this commitment. We're not making ourselves more comfortable, we're establishing a base where we can live our our mission every day of the week.

Like It --- Colossians 3:15-17

Welcome to our new series "Like It" where we lean hard into a small article that Jesus uses when describing the greatest commandment. Jesus gives us two side of the same coin: the greatest commandment is to love God and, LIKE IT, love others too. God Stories - Epiphany 2026

It's Epiphany! This is the yearly celebration of discovering that the baby in a feeding trough was more than any could imagine. The first encounters with Jesus would echo over and over throughout the generations to today where millions are encountering Jesus anew every day. Roots --- Luke 1:39-45

We know John the Baptist as the man in the wilderness preparing for Jesus's ministry to begin. However, Luke tells us that even as a baby in the womb he leapt for joy at Mary's pregnancy. Christmas is that same kind of joy at the coming of Christ, even when we don't see salvation or understand where it could possibly come from in dark days. It's hope and faith without all the information. It's God's love in the uncertainty. Merry Christmas from Love Chapel Hill! We'll see you in 2026!

Roots --- Ruth 1:16-17

One of the best examples of Christ-like love comes from Jesus's own family tree. Boaz plays the part of the kinsman redeemer; a model of savior to redeem a tragic situation. But this book begins with arguably the more poignant acts of love, that of Ruth's loyalty and devotion to Naomi. Boaz welcomes Ruth into prosperity but it's Ruth's love for her mother in-law that ultimately saves both women from the bleak future that would have been so likely in their society.

Roots --- Joshua 2:1-11

As the genealogy goes, between David and Jesus are many stately names with good Hebrew stories. Yet each author who writes it is sure to include a Canaanite prostitute. But far from the black sheep of the family, she represents the crux of Christ's mission. People whose life probably didn't turn out how they'd hoped redefining themselves by faith; this was Rahab in Jericho, Zacchaeus in a tree, a sick woman in a crowd. Christ came for these people. And he came from these people.

Roots --- Isaiah 11:1-10

The Christmas season is here! During this Advent, we're going to talk about family. Jesus's family story is crucial in establishing his significance as a culmination of Israel's history. But Advent is also about welcoming the world into Jesus's family. It's about continuing the story of creation and redeeming the downfall of humanity. It's the hope in dark times as Mary, Joseph, and God's people themselves were experiencing at the time of Christ's coming.

exodUS

The Israelites did eventually make it to the Promised Land. But they had to grow quite a bit before getting there. And the presence of God preceded them. We close out this series reflecting on our own exodus as a church, where we feel God moving us to a new home base, where our mission can continue with a sense of permanence and week-long service. We've grown a lot along the way. We're ready for the next step, but the mission remains. We will love Chapel Hill with the heart of Jesus!

exodUS --- Exodus 32:1-6

The handing down of the Law was one of THE MOMENTS that would define the Israelites as a people in Covenant with God. And they whiffed it very quickly. Their decent into idolatry would be far from the last time they would turn their back on God. This wasn't just simple sin; it was unfaithfulness in a relationship. There would be redemption, but there would also be consequences. And it proved all the more the need for Christ centuries later.

exodUS --- Exodus 25:8

As the Israelites spent the generations after the Exodus, they knew that God was on the move with them. And God traveled in style. They created a Tabernacle to travel with them and established spaces and rituals for God to abide with them; together yet separated to all but the high priest. But this beautiful vision of God's presence evolves, and now we all embody the Tabernacle and the Temple. We can be similarly sanctified. God dwells among and within us.
