At 55, Mark traded his carefree bachelor life in Hollywood for something he never expected: becoming the full-time caregiver for his 90-year-old mother. What followed was three and a half years of role reversals, tenderness, frustration, laughter, dignity, and love — including beauty days, a briefly employed servant bell, and more than a few lessons neither of them saw coming.

But this conversation doesn't stay in the caregiving lane for long. Mark and Sabine wander from Hollywood and Cast Away to moving to the south of France, crazy European drivers, centuries-old villages, family, adventure, empathy, and Mark's philosophy of finding the joy wherever life happens to drop you.
