It finally happened! We got to meet up at Star Wars Celebration AND we got to be at Star Wars Celebration! We recap our two days in Chicago, as well as the livestream of the other days. There is so much to share but we promise we kept it moving along. From trailers to meeting new people, we talk Episode IX, The Mandalorian, The Clone Wars, book signings, and Galaxy’s Edge. It was an exhausting, overwhelming experience and we would do it again in a heartbeat. Here’s to Celebration 2020 in Anaheim!

Switching things up in anticipation of some Home One Radio related Star Wars Celebration news, we moved this week’s main episode to Tuesday! We discuss the Age of Republic one-shot comics Count Dooku and Anakin Skywalker. We reflect on Dooku’s story showing him going down the path to villainy and how Anakin’s story shows him at his very best. Or does it? Josh posits a question about the sinister nature of the Separatists using droids as their army and how Anakin cutting them down might not be as different as cutting down Sand People. Lots of great stuff in these comics as we move into the Age of Rebellion one-shots in April!

Jody Houser’s amazing run of one-shot comics continues and we’re here to review two more thematically tied issues, Padmé Amidala’s story “Bridge” and General Grievous’ story “Burn”. We discuss how these two important figures on either side of the Clone Wars handle things they don’t understand. Also, how has recent material, especially Queen’s Shadow, add depth to Padmé’s story and how one particular The Clone Wars episode is a companion to Grievous’ story. All of this and Josh finally has his #BecauseMagnets moment!

We take a break from our Star Wars Celebration hype to dabble in some speculation. With the end of Star Wars Resistance Season 1, there are plenty of threads to pull on a speculate about Season 2. Where are the denizens of the Colossus might be headed after Neeku’s hyperspace mishap? Also, where is Tam and what does it look like now she is with the First Order? What could possibly be happening in Season 2? We discuss all of these questions and share one character from the sequel era movies we think could show up in Season 2.

Our final Resistance Report for Season 1 dives into the final three episodes of the season, “Descent” and both Parts 1 and 2 of “No Escape”. We discuss the growing maturity and leadership of Kaz, steeled by one tragic event, as well as the evolution of Neeku as a complimentary buddy to Kaz aka Blowfish 1. Also, Tam’s character goes through a big storm of relational turmoil and we analyze her fateful choice after encountering First Order Security Bureau agent Tierney. All of this and we discuss some of the major sequel era influences on these final episodes and what we loved about this first season. Stay tuned for a very special Season 2 speculation show next week and enjoy our final thoughts on Season 1!

Padmé Amidala Naberrie is a woman of strong character and unwavering leadership, yet her tragic end betrays much of what we came to love about this powerful queen in The Phantom Menace. E.K. Johnston’s new novel, Queen’s Shadow, seeks to recover much of what we loved about Amidala as she transitions from elected queen to Naboo’s representative in the Galactic Senate. We discuss what the book does to add to Padmé and her handmaiden’s legacy, how our expectations were subverted, and why the unassuming, episodic structure of the book is by far its biggest asset. We greatly enjoyed this novel and we hope you enjoy our review!
