We find a church doing their best to remain true to God in a culture that tries to corrupt them at every turn. Satan attempted to kill the church by way of persecution and death. This only made the church stronger so he changed his tactics. Satan began to attack the church from within by influencing members in the church to allow evil and sin to exist unchecked in the church.
