After teaching in an elementary classroom for several years, Ann Troast made the transition from teacher to homeschool mom, then co-op leader, and eventually curriculum publisher.
In 2016, Ann founded Four Square Community – a Charlotte Mason-inspired homeschool co-op that has grown to over 500 local students. Four Square offers academic and enrichment classes for students in preschool through high school. Beginning in 2019, Ann’s husband, Matt, also a former teacher, joined her in leading and serving the growing Four Square Community. He brings twenty years of traditional classroom experience ranging from preschool through university. Together Ann and Matt authored The Book of Centuries: A Personal Timeline of History. In 2022, they created Without Doors, a unique Charlotte Mason curriculum inspired by the successful lessons at Four Square Community. Using Without Doors has revitalized their homeschool and it is their hope it will do the same for yours.

  • Homeschool Reset - Durenda Wilson
Guilt! We all deal with it. Mom, wife, teacher, daughter, sister, friend. We feel guilty because we simply can’t meet all the needs of everyone and everything around us. We’re not giving our kids the education they deserve. We’re not keeping up with the house. We can’t live up to the demands of motherhood. Our husbands need us. Our family needs us. It’s never ending and we are left feeling like a failure. Well, it’s time to let go of that guilt.
Durenda Wilson, joins Yvette Hampton to encourage us with truth, scripture, and stories of how the Lord has worked through her obedience to home educate and disciple the hearts of her children.
This episode is an excerpt from Durenda's session for the Homegrown Generation Family Expo. Listen to the full conversation here.

Durenda has been homeschooling since 1996 and has graduated 7 of her 8 children so far. She has been married to Darryl for 33 years and they have 9 grandkids.
She is convinced that home education is an incredible blessing, but only if we don’t let it hold us hostage to unnecessary expectations and notions of what it “should” look like. The heart of her message encourages parents to create a simple, unhurried lifestyle while growing a strong, cohesive family. It’s in this nurturing environment where learning most naturally happens and where lifelong learners are grown.
Durenda has written The Unhurried Homeschooler (a simple, mercifully short book on homeschooling) and Unhurried Grace for a Mom’s Heart.  She is the host of the Durenda Wilson Podcast and is the owner, writer, and host of her blog and podcast, at DurendaWilson.com. She also enjoys speaking at events where she can encourage homeschool parents to lay aside unnecessary expectations and truly enjoy this homeschooling journey!
