Contract Law Chapter 1

I want to share my knowledge of how our legal system works here in the United States by offering you the same information you would expect to acquire attending a traditional law school. All of the information taught in law school is generic. For example, murder is defined as the unlawful killing of one human being by another with malice aforethought. The definition is the same whether you go to Harvard Law School or Fat Joe’s School of Law, murder still has the same definition, and that’s the way it is with every other doctrine of law. Understanding the doctrines of law has to be uniform across the board. How well one instructor elucidates the various doctrines over another may vary, but the information that the student will be required to understand will be the same. So, each week I host a new chapter for your home study and I teach these generic legal doctrines. I have a series of thirty chapters of the various courses, and each chapter will be scheduled weekly. The book that corresponds with the 30 chapters is titled, The Executive Juris Doctor by Shane Patrick Irvine, and it is available on Amazon Books. The book is a transcript of the lessons and explains in down-to-earth terms the basic doctrines of law that all attorneys would be expected to be familiar with. Knowledge is the most powerful tool available to mankind. It's the divider of the classes, the kingmaker, and yet, an intangible commodity that must be earned, personally. And, once acquired it can never be taken away. Understanding law is understanding the workings of society. Understanding how the system works is key to working the system to your advantage. You wouldn’t spend serious money at the blackjack table if you didn’t know how to play blackjack, and it’s the same with the study of law. You have to know the system and how it’s played.To advance to the highest level of social conscientiousness, in the business and political sense, it is necessary to understand how the legal system works. Trust me when I tell you, you do not need to be a genius to learn how to think like a lawyer. It requires understanding fundamental legal doctrines that allow them to organize and compartmentalize their thinking. That is what attorneys do, they organize their thinking into a structure, or plan, and use various tools to build the foundation for their structure. They have a toolbox of legal theories at their disposal, and they organize their thinking in a conventional format via a language of accepted doctrines and concepts.
