Do you avoid conflict at the cost of the truth? Most of us avoid conflict with others, so we often don't speak up against evil when we ought to. But our Lord Jesus makes it clear in today's gospel that we are to take action and speak up against evil in order to bring His Kingdom into this world.

In Deacon Randy's last weekend at Christ the King, we celebrate the Solemnity of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary. Mary was always focused on Jesus - even in her suffering while watching her Son die on the cross. We are called to imitate Mary in staying focused on Jesus in all circumstances.

In the parable of the sower, Jesus is the Sower of His word, His grace, His Body and Blood, all He is and has, His words and saving deeds.

The soil is our hearts. Jesus invites us to take a soil sample of our hearts.

How do we receive and respond to Him, to all that He teaches us, and to all that He seeks to do in our life? Jesus invites us to remove that hard, rebellious, stony soil, and replace it with rich soil so His seed can take root and grow.
