This week's gospel passage isn't from the post-Resurrection narrativews. Instead, we're given a chance to reflect with an Easter mindset on the Good Shepherd: He is the one who walks before us, walking through the valley of darkness and death and leading us to green pastures of eternal life.

Though our readings this Sunday don't explicitly speak about joy, the themes of God's love and our return from exile should cause us to rejoice.

The Ten Commandments and the Cleansing of the Temple make one thing clear: We are invited to live in God's house as his children, according to his commands and his wisdom. The wisdom of God, though, includes the Cross.

This week we consider the connection between the Baptism of Jesus, his Transfiguration, and eventual death on the Cross prefigured by the sacrifice of Abraham. These three events in the life of Christ are all connected by the revelation of Jesus's sonship to the Father. As we continue Lent, we would do well to internalize the Pasachal Mystery as part of our own relation to God as sons and daughters.
