Our guest preacher Angus takes us through Luke 18:9-14, guided by this passage he reminds us that it is wrong to assess our spiritual state by comparing ourselves with other people. When it comes to our righteousness, the standard is God, not those around us. This should bring us to humility and gratitude: humility because we will never reach Gods standard of righteousness and gratitude because God provides a way through Jesus Christ for us to boldly approach His throne and be welcomed into His presence.

As Christians, we belong to God but we do not belong to this world. We are saved from the penalty of sin but we still wrestle sin. Truly, we are exiles in this world, and yet in Christ we have hope, assurance and joy.

Who or what do you trust in times of crisis?

We know that sooner or later well face crises, but where do we run when things are falling apart? In Isaiah 36-37 we see how king Hezekiah dealt with the crisis that his nation was facing.

Scripture calls us to think seriously about our eternal destiny. We will either spend eternity with God, marvelling at the gift of salvation won on the cross, or we will spend eternity paying for our own sins, receiving God's wrath because God will always deal with sin. Hearing this message may just be your opportunity to receive the gift of salvation.

As we conclude this mini-series on the incommunicable attributes of God, we look at the indivisibility of God, meaning God is not a sum of many parts, but is in every way whole and perfect. This means that God's people are to worship Him with an undivided heart.

We were made for eternity, yet we are frustrated by our own mortality. Everything around us is affected by time; we grow old, our clothes wear out, our possessions lose value, wine gets better with time. But unlike us God is not constrained by time.

Family resemblance makes it easy to spot which family someone belongs to; in how we look, walk, talk, or even our quirks. Spiritually, it's the same: our actions reveal whether our father is God, or the devil.

Troubles and worries are unavoidable. So, when troubles come, where do we find our rest? Where do we find our security?
