Listen Later

Aloha wave riders and ocean enthusiasts! Get ready for some epic Hawaiian surf conditions hitting our islands this week.

The northwest swell is making a dramatic entrance, peaking Thursday night into Friday morning with warning-level waves. North and west facing shores of Kauai and Oahu are looking at impressive 10-16 foot swells, while Maui's north shores will see solid 7-10 foot faces. The Big Island's west side will also experience some sizeable 4-6 foot waves.

Kauai and Oahu are under a high surf advisory, so surfers and ocean lovers should exercise serious caution. These aren't your typical mellow Hawaiian waves - we're talking serious power and potential for challenging conditions.

As we roll into the weekend, expect the northwest swell to gradually diminish. But don't put away your board just yet! Another moderate to large west-northwest swell is forecasted to arrive Monday, keeping the excitement alive.

South and east facing shores are staying relatively calm, with tiny 1-3 foot waves providing minimal action. However, keep an eye on those east facing shores next week - strong trade winds are expected to kick up surf potentially approaching advisory levels by midweek.

Winds will be shifting throughout the day - starting southwest around 5-15 mph and transitioning through the afternoon. Temperatures will be classic Hawaiian paradise, holding steady in the low to mid 80s with partly sunny conditions and just a slight chance of passing showers.

Sunrise and sunset times are picture-perfect, giving you plenty of daylight to catch those waves. Stay safe, watch those rip currents, and enjoy the incredible Hawaiian surf!

Mahalo and happy surfing!
