Honolulu, HI Surf Report for 03-15-2025

Listen Later

Aloha, wave riders! Big surf's brewing across the Hawaiian islands, so grab your boards and let's break down what's happening.

A powerful west northwest swell is making serious waves right now, hitting harder than forecasters expected. The National Weather Service has dropped a High Surf Advisory for Kauai, Oahu, Molokai, and Maui that'll hold until 6 AM tomorrow.

North and west facing shores are going off tonight with massive 12-16 foot faces on Kauai and Oahu's northern coastlines. These monster waves will gradually settle down through the weekend, dropping to more manageable 8-12 foot ranges by Saturday afternoon.

Don't get too comfortable though - another northwest swell is lurking on the horizon. Sunday night into Monday, expect a smaller but persistent northwest pulse that'll keep things interesting. Looking further ahead, a series of long period northwest swells might keep surf conditions elevated throughout most of next week.

East facing shores are looking choppy but should start calming down over the next couple days. Wind patterns will be shifting, helping to smooth out those rough conditions.

Temperature-wise, we're looking at perfect Hawaiian conditions - upper 60s overnight and pushing into the low 80s during the day. Scattered showers might pop up, but nothing that'll harsh your surfing vibe.

Bottom line: If you're an experienced surfer, these next few days offer some seriously epic conditions. Just remember to respect the ocean, check local beach advisories, and maybe bring a backup board - these waves are no joke!

Catch you on the waves, Hawaii!
