Valerie is an architect who started her own business in 1994 with the birth of her
first son. Prior to the decision to have a family she was working for a firm in NYC. The
commute to CT took too much time out of the day. Time to make a change.
Her focus in the early years was high end residential, additions and remodels as well
as raising 3 kids. 24 years later her firm White Architects has been commissioned for
restaurants, offices, hotel lobbies, churches and industrial buildings. She is licensed
in 3 states and has NCARB membership. In 2015 while her children were in college,
Valerie became certified in Passive House. Designing high performance homes and
buildings MAKES sense!!! This has become her new passion. Similar programs ie
LEED, Net zero, Living building challenge, energy crafted homes should be the new
architectural standard. Every project she works on incorporates energy saving
strategies. She tries to save clients money by reducing their utility bills and save the
earth by reducing the amount of CO produced by the new building.
Life is about timing and choices. Early years were about the family and now the path
is changing. Valerie is finding she has more time to for herself. Time to travel, hike,
exercise, turn down projects that are not aligned with her universe.
