In today's podcast:
The 2022-23 NFL playoffs begin this weekend with six games on tap for Wild Card Weekend, with three storylines to get you guys set up for the weekend: How the matchup between the Los Angeles Chargers and Jacksonville Jaguars underscores two realities of the AFC: Patrick Mahomes is the elder statesman of the top quarterbacks in the conference (even though he's been starting for just five years for the Chiefs), and the conference is in great hands with several top young QB's in the same conference. Then, the New York Giants appear to have a significant advantage over the Minnesota Vikings going into their clash on Sunday afternoon, but not the one you're probably thinking of. Then, the Dallas Cowboys, 30 years removed from their last road playoff win, are under an immense amount of pressure to beat the 8-9 NFC South champion Tampa Bay Buccaneers, but nobody is under more pressure this weekend than Dallas QB Dak Prescott, who has thrown at least one interception in seven straight games.
Then, John makes his NFL picks against the spread for Wild Card weekend following a successful regular season, after he went 143-120-8 against the spread and 174-95-2 straight up.
In today's podcast:
John give retrospect to Georgia's dominant 65-7 victory over TCU in the College Football Playoff National Championship Game last night, and why everybody should have seen this coming from Labor Day Weekend onwards. Then, John goes over the Green Bay Packers' season of misery, the Detroit Lions success, the Seattle Seahawks, Miami Dolphins, and Jacksonville Jaguars making the playoffs, the major red flags the Dallas Cowboys showed in their 26-6 loss to the Washington Commanders, and the head coaching carousel that contains five teams this time. The Houston Texans fired Lovie Smith and the Arizona Cardinals fired Kliff Kingsbury as head coaches, while the Carolina Panthers, Denver Broncos, and Indianapolis Colts searches begin for replacements for Matt Rhule, Nathaniel Hackett, and Frank Reich, respectively.
In today's podcast episode:
John talks about what an inspirational story Buffalo Bills safety Damar Hamlin is authoring with his survival, and how his cardiac arrest brought together fans of all teams and all backgrounds in support of him.
Later, he talks about successful weeks for the Pittsburgh Steelers, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Green Bay Packer, and the New York Giants, and why Ron Rivera may coach his last game as head coach of the Commanders this weekend.
Then, Week 18 NFL Picks against the spread as per usual football podcast are on tap with many games with seeding implications.
