  • 133: Michigan finally beats Ohio State, Max Scherzer to the Mets, Packers team to beat in the NFC

    In today's podcast.

(01:14) John discusses an incredible weekend in college football, with Jim Harbaugh finally leading Michigan to beat Ohio State and go to their first Big Ten title game

(09:03) Did Bryce Young make his Heisman statement after leading Alabama from the dead to defeat Auburn?

(13:37) It's been a difficult 48 hours for Oklahoma Sooners football, after losing to Oklahoma State 37-33 in a wild Bedlam classic, being eliminated from the Big 12 championship game and the College Football Playoff discussion in one fell swoop, and then (18:57) head coach Lincoln Riley takes his talents from Oklahoma to be the next head coach of USC football.

(23:02) Max Scherzer signs with the Mets, a 3-year, $130 million contract per reports, and John determines whether or not this makes the Mets the team to beat in the National League following this move.

(29:52) Other players are looking to sign with teams before an impending lockout that'll freeze all transactions, with the Texas Rangers, Toronto Blue Jays, and Miami Marlins amongst the most active teams over the weekend.

  • 132: Week 12 Preview; Giants' mess, Eagles' schedule, Bills inconsistencies, Patriots most dangerous team in AFC??

    In today's podcast:

(1:18) The New York Giants are in a deep crisis, and they just fired offensive coordinator Jason Garrett after another lackluster performance from their offense when they lost 30-10 to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Monday night, so how did the Giants get to this point, and how should they get out of their deepest recession since the 1970s?

(18:14) The Philadelphia Eagles have the easiest remaining schedule in the NFL through the last seven weeks (two games each with the Giants and Washington and one game against the Jets and Cowboys), so is it plausible the Eagles can win 10 games and make the playoffs?

(21:04) And what about the compelling race shaping up in the AFC East between the Buffalo Bills and the New England Patriots? Can the Bills find some form of consistency ahead of a brutal upcoming December schedule?

(26:57) And can the Patriots sustain their successes over the last six weeks and convert it to a division title?

(31:27) John picks all fifteen games against the spread in Week 12 of the NFL, so can he pick up where he left off last week with the picks?
