  • 21.7: Jam Session
It's mid-December and exams, holidays, and breaks are all combining as always into an interesting time of the season. How are the top teams dealing with the season?
Thursday on Hoopsville, we jam the show with four Top 25 programs. Hear how they feel the season is going at this important juncture and what they are expecting in the weeks and months ahead. Plus, we take some time to tip our hat to Salem, Virginia. The "City of Champions" is getting ready to host yet another Stagg Bowl (the game's 50th edition and the city's 25th), so we take some time to look back at the impact the city has had on championships in Division III and the NCAA.

  • 21.1: 21st Season Debut
Hoopsville is back! We are back on the air for the 21st season of covering Division III basketball. Though not without some major technical difficulties that derailed what was supposed to be a great season opener.
We did hear from John Krikorian of D3hoops.com Preseason No. 1 Christopher Newport, but unfortunately other guests we planned to have on the show did not work out. Though we did have plenty of news and notes from the offseason and first week of this season to catch up. We are just warming up for the season.

  • 20.24: Championships
It was an incredible weekend of basketball in Division III. Semifinals and one championship game lived up to expectations. And there is still one more title to be crowned.
On the men's side of the Division III world, the weekend in Fort Wayne was terrific. Three great games, comebacks a plenty, drama, and one of the more incredible final minute (if not ten minutes) in the history of Division III title games. It was the perfect finish to an incredible season.
On the women's side, the semifinals did not disappoint. Comebacks as well, drama and strategy changes, and it leads to the first-ever #1 v #2 battle for the national title with both teams undefeated.
And we will recount it all on a special matinee edition of Hoopsville.
Guests appearing on the Hudl Hoopsville Hotline:

  • 20.23: Final Fours Preview
80 minutes. 2 games. That's now all that leaves 8 programs from being crowned national champions - and there will be new champions in both men's and women's basketball.
For the first time in seven years, two programs from the same school are in the final fours. For the first time since 2009, no teams on the women's side return to the semifinals. The men feature a rematch of a 2019 semifinal battle. For the second year in a row, a single-sex institution has a program in the final four. There are four first-time programs playing in the semifinals. One program isn't receiving a single vote in the Top 25 while another is unranked but receiving votes. And only one of two undefeated teams can go undefeated for the season.
All interesting facts and tidbits among the all the programs that will be featured on Thursday's Hoopsville. Watch On Demand or listen to the podcast as we chat with all eight programs who have earned their way to their respective semifinals.

80 minutes. 2 games. That's all that leaves 32 teams from realizing their goals and getting to the national semifinals. 24 programs won't make it.
It is a gut-wrenching time of March. Teams who have battled their way to the second weekend of the bracket can see the semifinals tantalizingly close. However, the majority will have their seasons come to finish short and the emotions tend to be raw.
On Thursday's Hoopsville, we will chat with some of the programs still battling with hopes of playing for national titles. We even hear from some of the student-athletes trying to achieve something bigger for themselves, their teammates, and their programs.

Two and a half weeks ago, we revealed who the national committees tabbed, at the time, were the Top 16 Ranked teams. And in what feels like the blink of an eye, we are down to just 16 teams remaining for both men and women's NCAA Tournaments. Time flies.
Join us on Monday's Hoopsville as we recap a terrific, and wild, first two rounds of the NCAA Tournaments. The upsets, the finishes, the battles. There was very little that didn't keep fans of DIII basketball engaged.
