That Which I do I Allow Not Pr Edi Giudetti 21-07-2019 To the Christian, Romans 7 is a passage of liberation and joy that is so desperately needed.   That which I do I allow not For we know that the law is spiritual: but I am carnal, sold under sin. 15 For that which I do I allow not: for what I would, that do I not; but what I hate, that do I. 16 If then I do that which I would not, I consent unto the law thatit isgood. Romans 7:14-16 Few passages there are that cause as much consternation as this found in Romans 7. We read the passage and we are a little bewildered at its meaning, especially the first time we read it. Yet at the same time there is an incredible simplicityto it and to what Paul is wanting us to understand. He begins with a summary line of all that he has spoken about in Chapter 6 and the first part of chapter seven, For we know that the law is spiritual. We have a spiritual Law that stems directly from the lips of a Spiritual creator. The Bible teaches that “God isa Spirit: and they that worship him must worshiphimin spirit and in truth” (John 4:24). Therefore, it is no surprise for us to learn that the Law, that which governs all of creation, is also spiritual. We might wonder how it is that something that has no form or shape, something that has no physical characteristics at all, can govern the entire physical universe. And yet we don’t seem to have a problem recognizing that words govern our actions. When I was a small boy, about seven years old, I remember my mother wanting to go out and do something with my little sister, leaving me at home alone. She gave me strict instructions that I was not allowed to go across the street and play with my friend. It was a local residential street with little traffic, yet her words were given to me in order to govern my physical actions. The words themselves had no physical characteristics, and yet they were spoken in order to limit or restrain my physical behavior. Sad to say that when she pulled back into the driveway, she saw me across the road. I ran back inside.  If there was ever a time to learn that non-physical things can have a physical effect, that was the time! For we know that the law is spiritual: but I am carnal, sold under sin. We have looked at the Law already and understood that it cannot save a man, it has no power to redeem, no power to regenerate, no power to effect any reconciliation between the Lawgiver and the subject under the law, it has power only to condemn. Paul demonstrates the distinction between him and the law itself in its simplest form, the law is spiritual: but I am carnal sold under sin. Note carefully that Paul is speaking here in the first person singular. This is not referring to ‘someone else’ or ‘another type of individual’ as some would assert, Paul is referring to himself and he does so in the present tense…to the trouble of some theologians. We have no idea what changed when mankind fell! We don’t really know what changes specifically took place in the nature of Adam.  Was he physical? Yes.Did he have a flesh nature? He did after he fell.Was he not naked prior to the fall? Yes, but seemingly ignorant to it, enough so that the realization of his nakedness revealed to God his disobedience. “Who told thee that thouwastnaked? Hast thou eaten of the tree, whereof I commanded thee that thou shouldest not eat?” (Gen 3:11) I say that only for us to accept a degree of humility in our understanding. WE DO KNOW there was a dramatic change in the nature of man where Adam had essentially, and perhaps ignorantly, bargained a price with the serpent to sell all mankind under sin, and a flesh nature would be inherited by all. but I am carnal, sold under sin. 15 For that which I do I allow not: for what I would, that do I not; but what I hate, that do I. From Chapter 6:14 to 7:15 the apostle Paul is dealing specifically with the Change that has occurred in the Christian contrasting the state under the Law to that new glorious state under the loving dominion of Grace. The key verse introducing the change is (Rom 6:14) “For sin shall not have dominion over you for you are not under the law but under grace”  And we look at grace with wonder, because it is so vitally important; grace is that concept of love demonstrated by God toward us in both the procuring of our salvationand in thepreservingof our souls.  It is that unmerited favor that we trust the Lord in, but not for our benefit alone is this grace given,but for the purpose “To bring fruit unto God” (Rom 7:4). And that is what I desire you would take away from the sermon this morning. We are to live our lives to the same end for which he came and died; that we, as one body, might live the Gospel of Christ and speak the Gospel of Christ, in the hope that we may indeed save some to that same purpose, “To bring fruit unto God”.

And he said, Come. Matthew 14:21-33 Introduction During a time of prayer before the Lord this week, and being is such desire for understanding of many troubles and thoughts, both personal and those going on all around us, a passage came to my mind of the Lord who “treadeth upon the waves of the sea”(Job 9:8).  And I recalled that one man, Peter the disciple of the Lord, requested the Lord might bid him to come unto him upon the water. And he said Come. What it was however, that overwhelmed me with joy and hopewas the wonderful linkthat my thoughts came to draw between this passage in Matthews Gospel account, and our current study in the book of Daniel chapter 7. (I’ll explain this link shortly). Its these links that, if we rarely read or study much of the Bible at all, we miss. Its these links that bless us so abundantly in our time of need through prayer. Its why I encourage you all to read the book of life as often as you can, to give yourselves opportunity to study the Bible. My desire is for you all to take hold of even the few opportunities provided for you,  The Newsletter, Prayer meeting and Bible study, our Monthly Getting Deeper studies, the womens Bible study, and soon, as the Lord leads, The early morningApt To Teach StudyI am looking to undertake for the men who desire to preach the word and/or evangelize.All this in addition to Sunday Mornings You never know when you will hear or learn something that will change your life, or unhinge you from something you are deeply troubled by.  The Lord will use all those things and bring some together, as he did for me respecting this morning’s message. We have before us a narrative account of an event that took place one evening after the Lord Jesus had multiplied the meagre provisions of a multitudeto that which, not only sustained them for their journey home, but also had abundance left over.  It was already evening, sometime around 6pm, when “Jesus constrained his disciples to get into a ship, and to go before him unto the other side, while he sent the multitudes away” (Mt 14:22). We know that the sea upon which the ship would sail was the Sea of Gallilee, for the other side was Gennesaret. (Galilee is the lowest Fresh Water Lake in the world, more than 200m below sea level.) Sometime during the night and in the midst of the sea it become troubled, tossed with waves and the wind was contrary and those whose ship would take them to the other side, were troubled as a result. Verse 25 tells us that it was not until the fourth watch of the nightthat Jesus came ‘walking on the sea’.   The nights were broken up into 3 hour periods known as a “Watch”, a military term for those who would stand to view any trouble that might come upon a city.  The hour from 6pm to 9pm is the 1stWatch, 9pm to 12am the 2nd, 12am to 3am the 3rdand 3am to 6am the 4thand last watch of the night. This is the time when Jesus came to them ‘walking on the sea’.  The interpretation of the passage is always the same and it does not ever stray from its historical account. God simply means exactly what he says and the account given to us is a perfect account of what had occurred. Yet within the multitude of historical accounts in the Bible, stems with it an almost infinite number of applications that God, through those accounts, seeks to both comfort and teach us.  It is an application of this account that greatly comforted and taught me this week that I desire to share with you this morning. It is one of faith in times of great trialsand troubles that surround us, both personally, locally and globally.  It is one of peace and stillness that comes through such faith, that sees Jesus calmly walking above a troubled sea,AND HE SAYS, COME!  ‘walk with me above the troubles of life’Come,  Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.Come, In the world ye shall have tribulation: bu

Changed I am hoping to start a garden of food. I know next to nothing about gardening. Last week Victor was talking about his big been sprouts and I asked if he had any seeds.  I had asked Victor  A Changed Constitution leads to a Changed Service  Let not sin therefore reign in your mortal body, that ye should obey it in the lusts thereof. 13 Neither yield ye your membersasinstruments of unrighteousness unto sin: but yield yourselves unto God, as those that are alive from the dead, and your members asinstruments of righteousness unto God. 14 For sin shall not have dominion over you:for ye are not under the law, but under grace.Romans 6:12-14 It is clear by now that those who have believed that Jesus came and died for their sin have been inwardly changed.  This strange event is not so quickly understood by us at the time, we know that something is different, we know that a change has occurred but we are not quick to understand it or even to put it into words, we just know that our constitution, our very make up has been altered somewhat. Jesus spoke to a man by the name of Nicodemus in the Gospel of John chapter 3 and he happenes to mentions something that again is strange to our ears.  Turn to John 3 Nicodemus was curious about Jesus and came to him after dark wanting to enquire a little more perfectly concerning Christ himself and Jesus discerned he wanted to know the way to the Kingdom of God. So to Nicodemus question in verse 2, Jesus answers in verse 3; John 3:3 3 Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God. Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God. Born again….?  We might think this to be a strange thing, but we are also not ignorant to the fact that something strange has also happened to each one of us that is Born Again, something we don’t readily understand. But there has been a Change in our constitution, a Change in the governing principals of our lives. The first 14 verses of Romans 6 brings this out and Jesus says that a man must be “born again”, and clearly he is referring to a very real but spiritual birth subsequent to our physical birth, he says so specifically in verse 5; John 3:5–6 5 … Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water andofthe Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God. 6 That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. Romans 6:13 also tells us that we are “alive from the dead” and exclaims clearly in verse 14 For sin shall not have dominion over you: for ye are not under the law, but under grace. The Bible making reference that; A change must occur before we can enter the kingdom of God…ie the new birth.A Change of State, from death to life, has occurred in the lives of those Paul addresses and we can say ‘common to all those who have been born again’.A Change of Constitution, or a change of governing principals in our lives leading to a change of behavior. Now I return immediately the extra change given by the mistake of the shopkeeper. Now I not so quick to curse and swear as I once had been. Now I feel greatly burdened and grieved by the sin I use to entertain with furver Now I desire to live my life free from sins presence in my life None of this was ever a part of my life, none of this was ever that which described me, something incredible has changed. Something that our passage here in Romans 6 assumes we are now able to perform where before we were unable. 6:12 Let not sin therefore reign in your mortal body, that ye should obey it in the lusts thereof. 13 Neither yield ye your membersasinstruments of unrighteousness unto sin: but yieldyourselves unto God, as those that are alive from the dead, and your membersasinstruments of righteousness unto God. It simply is futile to have such a charge given us if it we not possible to perform it. U

Freed From Sin Romans 6 pt 1 What does it mean to be freed from sin? Does it mean that we are now free to sin? The passage in Romans 6 and from the first verse makes plain, not only the answer but most importantly the overall claim of the Gospel. When a person believes the truth of all Christ has done, he is saved and eternally secure by Christ, heaven bound and prepared for the masters use. The question of sin is answered in Romans, but first is the doctrine of the freedom and the liberty we have as those saved from the wrath of God through Christ. Explaining the six sections of Romans That first segment(1 to 3:18) dealt clearly with the doctrine proclaiming; The Ruin of Man, and Gods Testimony against him. Rom 1 The knowledge of God is given them; “Because that which may be know of God is manifest in them for God hath shewed it unto them” (v19)Scripture explaining that “the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead so that they are without excuse(v20). Then, man rejecting that revelation that had been given him, his mind becomes darkened to truth; “Because that when they knew God they glorified him not as God but BECAME vain in their imaginations and their foolish hearts where darkened, professing themselves to be wise they became fools” (v21)This metal depravity then has the risk ofcontinuing in its downward spiral “Wherefore God gave them up to uncleanness through the lusts of their own hearts to dishonor their own bodies between themselves” until they change the truth of God into a lie and worshipped and served the creature more than the creator who is blessed forever, Amen.(V 24&25) Tragically, we find the ongoing rejection of the plain reality of God potentially lead mankind to what the Bible refers to as “vile affections” (v26), with not only the women burning in their lusts one to another, but also (v27) “men with men, working that which is unseemly and receiving in themselves that recompense of their error which was meet” In other words they received the natural consequence of their vile affections. It is no surprise that, at a time today when even the Church has effectively rejected the words of God, our culture has likewise turned to ‘sanctify’ the “vile affections” of verse 26. Proving the incredible truth of the entire passage of Romans 1. Until we see that state of man apart from God, (v29) being filled with all unrighteousness, fornication, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, debate, deceit, malignity; whisperers, 30 Backbiters, haters of God, despiteful, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents, 31 Without understanding, covenantbreakers, without natural affection, implacable, unmerciful: 32  Who knowing the judgment of God, that they which commit such things are worthy of death, not only do the same, but have pleasure in them that do them. Romans chapter two then sealing the matter and stating with clarity again that there would be none that will escape the judgment of God, for even those that judge them which do such things and doest the same…(2:3) shall not “escape the judgement of God”, why? Because they condemn themselves (v1). And their hardness and impenitent hearts, heap to themselves wrath against the day of wrath and the righteous judgment of God.  Romans chapters one and two confirms that which all atheism desires to escape, that is what is said in Chapter 2:6, that [God] will render to every man according to his deeds.  Man here discovers, to his utmost dismay, that his works will “Heap to [themselves] wrath against the day of wrath” The explanation of this condemnation continues through to the first 18 verses of Chapter 3 for which not even the Jews escape, the text finally making clear that 10 There is none righteous, no, not one: 11 There is none that understandeth, there is none that seeke

My Love Pr Edi Giudetti 19thMay, 2019 The message I have for you this morning was not part of my original intention. I came under conviction and being led of the Lord to preach to you of the love of Christ for you, his bride, the Church. It came to me as I was reading Grace Abounding to The Chief of Sinners by John Bunyan this week. The outline of the sermon this morning follows that of Holy Mr Gifford who I assume preached on this passage when John Bunyan was greatly lifted to know the Love of Christ for him. It is the outline alone that I have taken for this sermon, the contents and exposition of the passage is that which I have been led of the Lord to bring to you today. It is the first verse of that wonderful song in Chapter four, indeed the first few words that we will consider. 1 Behold, thou art fair, my love; behold, thou art fair; Song Of Solomon 4:1 Song of Solomon, also known as The Song of Songs and also known as The Canticles (Which is simply a hymn or song taken from Scripture other than the Psalms). It is a song of love, deep love that the king has for an un-comely and poor maiden. It was when the Church began in the first century that the understanding of the entire book came to light.  It speaks of the love of Christ and the Church. Indeed, there is no exposition that provides the consistency of the book otherwise. The descriptions alone of the maiden, so beloved of the King, makes little sense, few men would describe their own wives in such a manner as the descriptions found here.  It is the Church, the bride; and the King is Christ, the Lily of The Valley.             WHAT HAS THIS TO DO WITH THE RAPTURE? Perhaps you are wondering why it is that this book and this passage particularly was laid so heavily on my heart this week. I also wondered the reason.  The more I considered it, the more I came to realise that the Church, as one large body of every born-again believer still alive at the Lords coming for her, is indeed the espoused bride who waits for the coming of her beloved. The strength of His love for the Church simply could not be so dim as to see her suffer the wrath of the father who gave her to him! It is the context of that love that cannot reconcile with anything other than her being caught up and out of the way of The Day of Vengeance that will come upon this world. The picture is well given to us in the Gospel accounts of Christ as the Bridegroom, but it is in Matthews account that we read of him in Parable as likened to the Kingdom of heaven, where 10 virgins await his long expected arrival in Matthew 25:1-13; Turn there with me. Five wise and five foolish virgins (v2) but all ten slumbered and slept (v5) until, we take up our text in verse 6,  Matthew 25:6–13(AV)  6 And at midnight there was a cry made, Behold, the bridegroom cometh; go ye out to meet him. 7 Then all those virgins arose, and trimmed their lamps. 8And the foolish said unto the wise, Give us of your oil; for our lamps are gone out. 9 But the wise answered, saying,Not so; lest there be not enough for us and you: but go ye rather to them that sell, and buy for yourselves. 10 And while they went to buy, the bridegroom came; and they that were ready went in with him to the marriage: and the door was shut. 11 Afterward came also the other virgins, saying, Lord, Lord, open to us. 12 But he answered and said, Verily I say unto you, I know you not. 13 Watch therefore, for ye know neither the day nor the hour wherein the Son of man cometh. The passage so well representing the conditions prior to the Lords return for his Church. Song of Solomon equally representing so well Christ’s enduring and sacrificial love for his bride. There are however, those who hate both the King and the Bride. Christs love for her, will preserve her spotless and away from that day that will come upon those who hate them. Christs Love When Loveless Behold, thou art fair, my love; behold, thou art fair;

Gods People God’s People will always be the nation of Israel. Though all Israel is not of Israel (Rom 9:6) does not take away that the Jew’s are they who are referred to in Romans 11, and God certainly has not cast away his people, yet through their fall salvation has come to the world (Rom 11:11). Lets consider why this is so important as we deal with the issue of the Rapture of the Church, The Blessed Hope. Gods people:  With such a focus for us upon the blessed hope, the pre-tribulational Rapture of the Church, one might think the reference was rightly appointed to ourselves, the Christian. Well, not in the passage we are going to consider this morning. “Gods people” refers to Israel.  All of the prophetic timeframe, that is, from now to the end of the Millennial period, saving the Falling Away and the Rapture of the Church, has to do with Israel. Israel is Gods time piece. All the “signs of the times” that Jesus referred to and that should be watched are to do with Israel alone. Nothing needs to occur before the Rapture of the Church, no prophecy in scripture needs to be yet fulfilled prior to that event coming to pass. But why is Israel so important to our study of the Rapture of the Church? Because without a Biblical understanding of how God feels about his Elect, we will run into grave error, not only concerning his coming for the Church, but also our relationship to Israel. A PROMISED PEOPLE 1 I say then, Hath God cast away his people? God forbid. For I also am an Israelite, of the seed of Abraham,of the tribe of Benjamin. 2 God hath not cast away his people which he foreknew.Romans 11:1-2 We live in a day of rising anti-Semitism when the world believes God has cast away his people. Yet it is a time predicted in the last days where the entire world will have a particular hatred for the People of God.  An Anti-Semite is a person who holds both a prejudice and an active hostility of the Semitic people. The Term Semite is one coined in the 18thcentury and refers particularly to the descendants of Shem, just as Hamites and Japetites refers to Noahs other sons, Ham and Japheth. Shem was the longest surviving son of Noah. Semite refers to those of Caucasian distinction, particularly ALL the descendants of Abraham today including both Arab and Jew, Turk and Kurd. But historically it is Israel that is the most focused people group identified by this term.   An Anti-Semite is one who has prejudice against the Jew, one who hates Gods People. And they have been there ever since Genesis 3. Israel is a Promised People unto the Lord and there is nothing that will take away that promise from the nation of Israel. But the Bible teaches clearly that the entire world will be against Israel in the Last days. Turn to  Zechariah 12:2–3 2 Behold, I will make Jerusalem a cup of trembling unto all the people round about, when they shall be in the siege both against Judah and against Jerusalem. 3And in that day will I make Jerusalem a burdensome stone for all people: all that burden themselves with it shall be cut in pieces, though all the people of the earth be gathered together against it. The rising hatred we are seeing against Israel the world over today will continue to rise until all the people of the earth be gathered together against it. When my family were in Israel in 2012 we went to a museum known as Yad Vashem (A monument and a name), the Holocaust museum set up as a monument to remember the tragedy of Nazi Germany. The lies and propaganda, the board games and card games sold, the literature and news articles that circulated, the education materials children studied in school, the scientific reports created by scientists, all of which was directly hostile to the Jew. It was incredible.  It reminds me of the propaganda of Global Warming forced on children today to change their belief in reality. It reminds me of the propaganda of Evolution forced on the children toda
