As John closes his 1st epistle he underscore for the Church five certainties we have. In this message, we learn about the first three certainties that brings confidence and assurance to every believer-s life.

Our faith in Jesus Christ is well grounded in the merciful witness of God to us. Like a verdict in a courtroom 1 John 5 makes it clear that we have every reason to place our faith in Christ and find life. The believer has within himself the --testimony of Spirit produced faith that continues to believe.

Though the Reformation took place 500 years --ago the task of reforming is not yet done. Our Lord continues to reform his church as he reforms individuals. This morning-s message addresses 5 areas in which we need reforming.

The focal point of the Reformation is Romans 1-17 - a text about the means of salvation. To the surprise of Martin Luther and most others, salvation is a matter of faith alone. We offer nothing to God in return for saving grace.

As Reformation Day approaches on October --31st, we consider the importance of what happened in 1517 and how it applies today. Our first look is at what religion is, what is the true religion and how can we know.

1 John is a wonderful spiritual diagnostic tool to confirm saving faith in Christ Jesus. Like a three-legged stool, in chapter 5 John gives to us a three part test to confirm our abiding in Christ and he in us.
