We will rub shoulders with an ungodly culture during the holidays. Celebrations of the goodness of God and hope for the new year get ambushed by self-elevating crassness and pleasure-seeking. We can make ourselves less vulnerable to getting caught up in destructive behaviors by gaining confidence, guidance, and assurance from God. Might take a moment to lean into grief or depression during the holidays and how God can meet us in those spaces.

The key to having a safe wallet during the holidays is godly generosity. Generosity teaches us that God provides. Life is a gift and everything belongs to God. Our wallet gets in trouble when we try to use it to make ourselves look impressive by impressing others. Generosity breaks that cycle and that spirit. 

We need to make space for God, especially during the holidays. Margin shrinks when our load exceeds our limit. This sermon will invite people to make space for God and the things that truly matter by (1) picking priorities ahead of time, (2) being honest about expectations and abilities, and (3) by lightening up.

With anticipation for the holidays comes plenty of anxiety. Every year we tell ourselves that we will do better. We will plan, budget, celebrate, and manage priorities better than last year. But will we? Join in at Hope Church to gain some gear for holiday survival. Let us help.
