What God does, however, when you are at your limits of time, patience, strength and talent is extraordinary. This is where the greatest downloads of heaven take place. A lot of us think that there’s a giant leap of faith that we have to undertake in order to follow God through the wilderness and into our own personal Canaan flowing with milk and honey. Yet no one has ever undertaken a leap of faith either within the Bible or without. The Bible never mentions leaps- only steps. It’s the steps of faith that lead to the vaults of heaven. God is your step maker. He makes steps- good steps that eventually lead to new levels of blessing and influence. Steps belong to man. Success belongs to God.

Most prayers have a lot to do with making us better, more holy and more acceptable to God. They’re about all we can do for God. Yet the Bible declares we love him BECAUSE He first loved us. To ask God to firstly show you His glory is not ancillary but mandatory to rekindling our love affair with heaven and then swimming the deepest oceans because of it. For many, it’s the more excellent prayer.
