The Innocent King | Matthew 27:11–31
In this powerful portion of Matthew’s Gospel, we witness the trial of Jesus—an innocent King accused, rejected, and mocked. Though He had done nothing wrong, Jesus stood silent before His accusers, choosing obedience and love over self-defense. He took the place of Barabbas, a guilty man set free, revealing the heart of the Gospel: the righteous for the unrighteous.
This Sunday, we’re exploring what it means that Jesus willingly took our place. In the face of injustice and humiliation, He remained faithful to the Father’s plan—so that we could be redeemed. His suffering wasn’t a loss; it was love in action.
Both Judas and Peter failed Jesus, but only Peter returned to Him. It reminds us that while failure is a universal part of the Christian life, restoration is always possible through repentance and the grace of Jesus.
Growing Together: God's Work in Us
Over the past year, we’ve seen God doing something powerful in our church—more people are walking through our doors, lives are being changed, and we’re growing! Nine months ago, that growth led us to begin multi-gathering, and this past Easter Sunday, we reunited for one incredible, joy-filled (and a little bit squishy!) gathering.
That moment sparked something in us, and now—we’re doing it again. But this time, we’re going outdoors!
Sunday, 22nd June, join Hope City Church Outdoors as we gather under the sky to celebrate all that God is doing. We’ll dive into Mark 4:26–29 and 1 Corinthians 3:6–9, where Jesus reminds us that while we sow and water, God is the one who brings the growth. Whether you’re new, curious, or have been with us for years, join us as we worship, and grow with us.
This is about more than numbers—it’s about God’s Kingdom growing in us and through us.
Betrayed and Tried: Jesus Faces the Darkness | Matthew 26:47–68
Jesus is betrayed by a friend, abandoned by His followers, and falsely accused in a rigged trial. In Matthew 26:47–68, the Son of God faces the full weight of injustice with courage and silence. Judas leads the mob, Peter lashes out in fear, and the religious leaders plot to destroy the very one sent to save them. Yet Jesus remains faithful to the mission.
This powerful moment reminds us: Jesus knows what it means to be betrayed, misunderstood, and alone. And still, He loves us.
Youth All In: The Garden, the Denial, and the Power of Prayer | Matthew 26:31-45
Jesus is in deep agony in the garden of Gethsemane, just hours before the cross. His closest friends can’t even stay awake. And Peter—bold and confident—will soon deny Him three times. In Matthew 26:31–45, we witness Jesus' raw humanity and divine obedience. This moment changed history—and it speaks directly to our struggles today. "After I have risen, I will go ahead of you into Galilee." (Matthew 26:32)
Even in betrayal and weakness, He offers hope.
This message is part of our special "Youth All In" Sunday!
Today, our youth are taking over every role in church—from leading worship and preaching to tech and hospitality—as they step up to serve and lead. It's a powerful moment of faith in action and the next generation rising up for Jesus.
In this week's message, we enter the upper room with Jesus and His disciples as He shares His final Passover meal. Jesus reveals that one of His closest friends will betray Him—yet in the same moment, He offers the cup of the new covenant, promising redemption through His blood.
✝️ What does this sacred meal mean for us today? How can we approach communion with deeper reverence and hope?
Whether you're preparing for communion or exploring the meaning of Jesus' sacrifice, this passage invites us to reflect on grace, covenant, and commitment.
Ever feel like life’s a wild ride, throwing you off balance? Matthew 26:1-16 invites us to explore who’s really in control. From Jesus’ betrayal to a woman’s extravagant act of love, discover how God’s plan unfolds, even in chaos. You’re not driving—but Someone who loves you is. Join us to reflect on this truth: God gave His Son for you, proving His unshakable love. Ready to find hope in life’s unpredictability?
God tells Zerubbabel that He will shake up the world and make Zerubbabel like His special signet ring, showing He’s chosen him. It’s a promise of hope and leadership during tough times.
In Haggai 2:10–19, God reminds the people that just going through the motions isn’t enough—if their hearts aren’t right, their efforts won’t bear fruit. But now that they’ve turned back to Him and started rebuilding with the right attitude, He promises to bless them moving forward.
Turn to God and trust in His promises.
