Matthew 25 | Jesus finishes up with a third parable of the Kingdom of God. As dark as these parables have been, this one is the worst. It talks of a king that will separate those who are in and those who are out of his Kingdom. It would be good to know what criteria we will be judged by, right?

At the Passover Meal, Jesus once again predicts His death on a Roman cross. The thing is, even though the disciples had no idea what to think, it kept bumming them all out.

The Jewish Sanhedrin sentences Jesus to death. Their only problem? Well, Israel is a conquered state. They can't execute anyone. So Jesus is brought before Pilate, the Roman governor. But, now Pilate has a problem of his own!

As demoralizing as it must have been for the disciples to see their valiant leader arrested, it will only get worse. The trial the Jewish Sanhedrin conduct is a mockery of justice. Then he goes to the Roman Governor, who passes him on to the puppet king of Israel. And they all find a reason to pass Jesus on until He will reach the solders of the Roman execution squad.

The site of Jesus' execution is a grizzly one indeed. To think of Jesus hanging lifeless on that cross, the earthquakes, the veil in the Temple tearing, and even some dead saints coming back to life?! Even from there, the story gets a bit weird.

Luke 7 | As Luke is an outsider to the Jesus story writing to outsiders, he always finds the outsiders in Jesus' story. Today we find a Roman Army Centurion who seeks out Jesus for a favor. Pretty cool story of what the Kingdom of God looks like.
