Did you know that there are three hundred and thirty voluntary muscles in the human body? And that doesn't count muscles like the heart that requires no thought or conscious effort. If God gave us all of those muscles, He must have intended for us to do something with them. In Second Corinthians chapter six, the Apostle Paul reminds us who we are working for and who we are working with. It's awesome to consider that the God of the universe would even give us the opportunity to be a coworker with Christ. What a privilege if you really think about it! A small girl had been promised the privilege of climbing to a nearby hilltop where her brother enjoyed playing. But when she came within sight of the steep, rough path, she drew back in dismay. "Why, there isn't a smooth spot anywhere. It's all bumpy and stony!" she exclaimed. "Yes," said her more experienced older brother, "but how else would we ever climb to the top if it wasn't? The stones and bumps are what we step on to get there." Likewise, the Christian can expect a rough path throughout this life, but there is purpose behind each bump along the way.
