Churches split over silly matters, and people leave churches for the wrong reasons too. After D-day in World War Two, someone said to General Eisenhower, “It's great how you were able to coordinate all the teams in that great enterprise.” The General quickly corrected him: “Not teams,” he said, “but team.” As Christians we are all on the same team. Unfortunately, our actions and behaviors often say otherwise. In his first letter to the Corinthians, Paul sent forth an exhortation that they all should agree, and there should be no divisions. Calvary Chapel of Marlton presents Hope From the Word, with Pastor Bill Luebkemann. All of God's Word is important but the book of First Corinthians is certainly vital in understanding the Gospel. It's easy to understand why Paul wrote this letter. The church in Corinth had become so messed up that it barely resembled the church Paul originally established there. First Corinthians is Paul's response to the problems in Corinth and his encouragement to get them back on track.
