The fifth, sixth, and seventh commandments of Exodus 20 are God’s way of rebuilding humanity by restoring the essential institutions of authority, life, and marriage. These laws point to the necessity of a Savior - Jesus - illustrating how the gospel provides the grace and transformation needed to move beyond human failure toward holiness in Christ.
