Not Up To Par for Alex Cross
I've read every book in this awesome series. Alex Cross is a terrific hero and loves his family. This book continues with the kidnapping of his family and his attempting to find the kidnapper before something awful happens to his family. I never really believed that anything bad would happen but there is just enough angst generated that the reader is not sure.
I was disappointed in the repetitive store if this book. We revisited all the same places as in the previous book, ostensibly to look for clues, but I found myself reading past these parts. It was boring until the last few chapters and even then it was very similar to what occurred in the previous book. I gave it three stars because it just didn't measure up to earlier books. Perhaps I've moved on or maybe Alex Ned's a new mission.
Alex Cross #22 the best so far
This is the most complicated of all tha Alex Cross books. Someone has kidnapped Alex's family and is holding them captive with Alex himself being the ultimate prize of this psychopath killer is hoping to get. Several heinous crimes are attributed to both this killer and his female accomplice. Eventually both are brought to justice in very different ways. This is the best book so far in this James Patterson series. I enjoyed the book so very much but felt like I was wrung out like a dish rag by the fantastic ending.
Great
I am an Alex Cross fan, and this book strayed away from the norm as his entire family was involved in a way that the killer did things to make Cross think he was killing his family, starting with his wife and son. It kept you going at a fast pace, questioning whether his family would all be killed or was this a cat and mouse game initiated by the killer. Great read
The Cross stories were far superior in the early books
The Cross stories were far superior in the early books. While this one is good, it just feels like the plots are getting redundant and Patterson is not devoting the time he used too. That might be because he has turned his name into its own brand and doesn't feel the need anymore to do more than "phone-it-in".
A great finish
This is a series to be enjoyed, savored. I love books, love to read. Love to live and experience the entertainment of a good book. These are not stand alone books. They need to be read in the order they are written. It took 13 days to read the 24 books making up the series. I could not walk away from the story of this close, loving family. The good, honorable man that was Alex Cross. The world they lived in, D.C.'s East Side. The utter depravity of the criminal elements.
