  • It's Not in the Shallows

    It’s Not in the Shallows

Luke 5:1 NIV One day as Jesus was standing by the Lake of Gennesaret, the people were crowding around him and listening the word of God.

Luke 5:2 NIV He saw at the water’s edge two boats, left there by the fishermen, who were washing their nets.

Luke 5:3 NIV He got into one of the boats, the one belonging to Simon, and asked him to put out a little from shore. Then he sat down and taught the people from the boat.

Luke 5:4 NIV When he had finished speaking, he said to Simon, “Put out into deep water, and let down the nets for a catch.”

Business = things you are very occupied & engaged with

Luke 5:5 NKJV but Simon answered and said to Him, “Master, we have toiled all night and caught nothing; nevertheless at Your word I will let down the net.”

Luke 5:4 NIV When he had finished speaking, he said to Simon, “Put out into deep water, and let down the nets for a catch.”

Shallow relationships are with people who want something from you & nothing for you

“let down the nets for a catch.”

“nevertheless at thy word I will let down the net”

Luke 5:6 NLV When they had done this, they caught so many fish, their net started to break.

  • Guilt - Religion & The Right Seat

Guilt - Religion & the Right Seat

    Point #1 The Guilt Game

GUILT: That feeling of deserving blame especially for imagined offenses or from a sense of inadequacy

    Point #2 Religious Obligations

Matthew 23:1-3 TPT Then Jesus addressed both the crowds and his disciples and said, “The religious scholars and the Pharisees sit in Moses’ seat as the authorized interpreters of the Law. So listen and follow what they teach, but don’t do what they do, for they tell you one thing and do another.

Matthew 23:4 TPT They tie on your backs an oppressive burden of religious obligations and insist that you carry them, but will never lift a finger to help ease your load

Point #3 The Right Seat, is the Right Seat!

Matthew 11:28 NLT Then Jesus said, “Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest.

Matthew 11:29-30 NLT Take my yoke upon you. Let me teach you, because I am humble and gentle at heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy to bear, and the burden I give you is light.”

Eph 2:6 NIV And God raised us up with Christ and seated us with him in the heavenly realms in Christ Jesus…

Hebrews 1:3 NLT The Son radiates God’s own glory and expresses the very character of God, and he sustains everything by the mighty power of his command. When he had cleansed us from our sins, he sat down in the place of honor at the right hand of the majestic God in heaven.

Hebrews 12:2 Prms Keep your eyes focused and fixed - fastened on the eyes of Jesus, our champion and the one who perfects our faith. It was because of the joy before Him, that Joy beyond the cross that He endured the cross and you are His joy! The pain and shame meant nothing, as He was finishing the work He came to do. And then He sat down, in the place of honor He alone deserves, seated at the right hand of God our Father.

    the ninth plague

Exodus 3:7 NLT Then the Lord told him, “I have certainly seen the oppression of my people in Egypt. I have heard their cries of distress because of their harsh slave drivers. Yes, I am aware of their suffering.

Exodus 3:8 NLT So I have come down to rescue them from the power\ of the Egyptians and lead them out of Egypt into their own fertile and spacious land. It is a land flowing with milk and honey—the land where the Canaanites, Hittites, Amorites, Perizzites, Hivites, and Jebusites now live.

Exodus 3:9 NLT Look! The cry of the people of Israel has reached me, and I have seen how harshly the Egyptians abuse them.

Exodus 3:10 NLT Now go, for I am sending you to Pharaoh. You must lead my people Israel out of Egypt.”

Exodus 3:7-8 NLT Then the Lord told him, “I have certainly seen the oppression of my people in Egypt.

Exodus 3:7 NLT Then the Lord told him, “I have certainly seen the oppression of my people in Egypt. I have heard their cries of distress because of their harsh slave drivers. Yes, I am aware of their suffering.

Exodus 3:8 NLT So I have come down to rescue them from the power of the Egyptians and lead them out of Egypt into their own fertile and spacious land. It is a land flowing with milk and honey…

Exodus 10:21-23 NLT Then the Lord said to Moses, “Lift your hand toward heaven, and the land of Egypt will be covered with a darkness so thick you can feel it.”  So Moses lifted his hand to the sky, and a deep darkness covered the entire land of Egypt for three days. During all that time the people could not see each other, and no one moved.

But there was light as usual where the people of Israel lived

1 Thessalonians 5:4-5 Voice My brothers and sisters, it will be different for you. You do not dwell in the darkness, so that day will not surprise you like a thief. For you are all children of light. You are sons and daughters of the day. We are not created of night, nor are we owned by darkness.

Rom 8:29 “Jesus is the first born of many brethren”

John 8:36 Prms Since it's only his son Jesus who can truly set you free, then live free, act free and be free

Gal 5:1 CEV Christ has set us free! This means we are really free. Now hold on to your freedom and don’t ever become slaves of the Law again.
