“You’re making this way more difficult than it needs to be.” Ouch… This sentiment can often feel discouraging, defeating, and deflating, and often cause us to dismiss things in our lives or to walk away disinterested. The same is true when it comes to the message of the Gospel of Jesus and our faith… the more difficult it is for people outside of the faith to desire to come to Jesus, the more disinterested they will become. But what if we are making it more difficult than it needs to be? What if faith in Jesus was simply that? What if the “good news” really was “good news” for everyone… not just some? These were questions and decisions that were not only in front of James and the leadership council of the church in Jerusalem, but they are front and center for the Church in America today. We are at a hinge point, a fork in the road for the church. What direction will we decide? What should we, as a local church, decide?
