Bible study with me in the book of Micah! The prophet Micah spoke out against the moral decay of both Israel and Judah. Judgment was coming for their religious pretense, social injustice, and idolatry. Intermingled in the book are pictures of salvation and future glory to come.

Bible Study with me in the book of Hosea! Hosea prophesied to the northern kingdom of Israel. His troubled marriage to an unfaithful wife symbolized Israel's infidelity. Israel had turned away from God and would face exile, however, Hosea persisted in communicating God's promise to ultimately restore His people.

For their social injustice, both Judah and Israel will receive God's judgment. The story shifts to a salvation oracle that sees an ultimate restoration. The nations will be rebuilt and Israel will again be fruitful.

Bible Study with me in the book of Jonah! God commands Jonah to go to the great city of Nineveh. Jonah disobeyed the command and boarded a ship that would take him in the opposite direction of Nineveh. Jonah is thrown overboard at sea and swallowed by a great fish. He was in the belly of the fish for three days and three nights, then miraculously deposited on shore. God commissioned Jonah a second time and he obeyed, carrying out his preaching assignment.

In the face of looming disaster, the prophet Joel urges the people to sincerely repent with the aim of rekindling their relationship with God and averting destruction. This repentance must be genuine rather than superficial. In light of the forthcoming judgment associated with the Day of the Lord, God promises to deliver salvation to His people.
