The best spiritual indicator of your spiritual maturity is not your theological knowledge or your devoted service to the church. It’s your prayer life.
We’ve been told that prayer is making God do what we want. If we can get the wording right or the combination right, we can have access to the biggest genie in the universe.
That’s not the purpose of prayer. Prayer is not us wrestling God into giving us what we want, but us conforming to what Jesus would want. Prayer is encountering God and coming away wanting what he wants for our world and inviting God to use us to do it.
