Jesus Says: Built on This Special Guest Craig Finnestad A continuation on Jesus in Matthew  A note from Craig: I talked about how wisdom is a blessing to us and to those around us. Wisdom is the implementation of knowledge. Wisdom is developed from listening and placing ourselves in environments where we can be nourished by God. James tells us to ask God for wisdom and says God will give us wisdom when we ask. Wisdom doesn’t usually do the easy thing. Wisdom always does the right thing and sees the blessings in delayed gratification.  Here are a few Scriptures to read and reflect on:  If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives generously to all without reproach, and it will be given him. -James 1:5  Listen to advice and accept instruction, that you may gain wisdom in the future. -Proverbs 19:20 Anyone who listens to my teaching and follows it is wise, like a person who builds a house on solid rock. -Matthew 7:24 Here are three questions that will hopefully lead us to greater wisdom: 1. What are some obstacles you face to making wise decisions? 2. Do you tend to make choices based on short-term gratification or long-term good? 3. When challenges of life come your way, how do you respond to them? Do you invite God to join you in overcoming or dealing with these challenges?  And one challenge: Ask God for wisdom every day this week.

About a week ago, while I was working on the sermon for this weekend, my friend Chris called me. Actually, he called me twice (on both my cell phone and my work phone numbers), so I thought it may be an emergency. Turns out two of our former Sunday School students were working on a remodeling project at his house with their business, and he wanted me to come pop by to see them. I went over and spent some time on the patio with all of them, and I was inspired by their faith.

Now in their mid 20’s, one of the guys had a tattoo of one of his cousin’s favorite Batman quotes on his arm. It served as a way to remember him, because his cousin passed away when they were both young. He also had a tattoo of Psalm 23:4. A reminder that when we go through the darkest valleys, God is still there beside us. Something that Jesus reminded us of too. The former student said the tattoo of the verse actually helps to bring up a lot of spiritual conversations with others.

I pray that each of our confirmation students, and each of you, can have a faith like his. I want you to have a faith that lasts.

This year we have worked through how to Love Like Jesus. As we continue seeking to live like Jesus, we will be looking into Jesus in Matthew. Understand Jesus' "way" for us to live and look on earth. This week we are searching the "upside-down kingdom." Blessed this Way; surrendered seeking, diligently working for Him.
