Hormonal cravings on the LCHF - can they be stopped?

On this edition of the low carb healthy fat diet the question posed was from Abby, who is battling with food cravings. Dr Ann Childers, Abby’s question, is a fairly lengthy one and I’ll run through it. She says she’s been following the low carb healthy fat diet for just a few months now and she says, honestly, she feels the best she has ever felt in her 42 years on earth, no exaggeration, truly life changing stuff, except, and it’s in capital letters. She said she suddenly finds herself grappling with intense food cravings the week before her period. She says she’s never had PMS and this hunger is unlike anything she’s ever experienced. It doesn’t diminish at all after eating, even when large amounts of food are consumed.

This is not normal for me and the binge like behaviour is pretty alarming. The madness lasts one to two days before returning to normal, the rest of the month is fantastic. It might be a coincidence, but could the low carb healthy fat diet be causing this? If so, what can she do about it?

She’s tried sticking to her usual foods, meat and veg during these episodes since it doesn’t seem to matter what’s eaten. She’s also tried consuming high carb foods such as sweet potato, very dark chocolate, but nothing seems to quell the insane hunger. She eats plenty of fat, animal, coconut butter, that sort of thing, moderate protein and gets all her carbs from loads of veggies and a daily dose of not butter, except from this crazy time, she’s never hunger and she’s feeling amazing, but it is concerning her.
