Dogs and horses have been my constants.

One girl. One horse. One long, complicated story of love, loss, and learning.

They say you can really only have three of these five things—Work, Sleep, Family, Fitness, Friends. I’ve always used a different list: Health, Career, Family, Friends, and the horses and dogs that kept me sane. Pick three. I never quite managed more than that, no matter how loudly the “have-it-all” generation told me I should.

Sometimes the path forward starts with the quietest pulls and the strangest aches.
