Are the pressures of life getting the best of you?

Jacob's family numbered 70 people when they settled in the land of Goshen in Egypt. Though Jacob and his sons all died in Goshen, God blessed the children of Israel and caused them to grow and multiply in Egypt. Times were good until a pharaoh came to power who did not know of Joseph or Jacob, and feared the growing population of the Hebrews.

This week we finish Exodus 1 and read what happened when the Egyptians enslaved the children of Israel. We'll see how God continued to bless his people in the midst of their oppression and how he specifically blessed those individuals who feared him more than they feared pharaoh. And we'll learn how God still uses the pressures of life to draw us closer to him today.

This week we look back on the work that the Lord has done through the eyes of pastors and leaders who have served in the church and in the community. Come take a walk with us down memory lane, as we praise the Lord for what He has done in the last 50 years and look forward to what He will do in the next 50!

The story of salvation continues!

Genesis ended with Jacob's family moving to Egypt to escape the famine in the land of Canaan. And Exodus begins without skipping a beat, picking up right where Genesis left off. Though they have different names, these books are not two separate stories but one continuous story of God's salvation for the whole world!

This week we begin our study of the book of Exodus with an overview of what the book is all about. We'll look at how Exodus is a continuation of Genesis, as God fulfills the promises He made in Genesis. And we'll look forward to how the stories of Exodus connect to the New Testament and the promises God fulfilled to us through Jesus Christ

The book of Ruth recounts the story of how Boaz becomes the kinsman redeemer for Ruth and how they fit into the family line of King David. But long before their marriage, the widowed Ruth chose to leave her home in Moab to follow her Jewish mother-in-law, Naomi, back to the land of promise. What kind of example did Naomi have on Ruth that would lead her to leave Moab and embrace Naomi's God?

This week Cedric Evans shares a message with us from the first chapter of Ruth on Naomi's example of motherhood. We'll look at Naomi's selfless love for her daughters-in-law and her enduring faith that would lead Ruth toward trusting in God. And then we'll look at we should respond to our own mothers with love and honor.

What does it mean to be the of the world?

In the beginning God called the light into existence and that light shone over an unformed and chaotic earth. Two thousand years ago, Jesus proclaimed "I am the light of the world." It may seem obvious that Jesus was teaching us that He brings light into a spiritually dark world, but do we understand the full weight of what that means?

This week Pastor Rik shares a message with us from John 8 about what Jesus meant by His statement "I am the light of the world." We'll look at what both light and darkness represented throughout the Old and New Testaments and the overarching story of light v. darkness throughout the overarching narrative of the whole Bible. And then we'll ask ourselves, as modern-day followers of Jesus, how are we reflecting His light to a dark and chaotic world.

It's all about Jesus! Genesis is the book of beginnings. It teaches us the origin of the universe, of men and women, of societies and governments, of sin and evil, and the very first mention of the good news of the gospel. God established His plan of salvation before the universe was formed, and all of it revolved around the prophesied Messiah, Jesus! This week we take a step back and look at an overview of the whole book of Genesis to see what the book of beginnings tells us of the coming Messiah who would overcome sin and death and lead us into eternal life. And we'll look at how we should respond in the light of so great a salvation!

What do you desire?

It should be an easy question. We should all know what we want. But in a broken and sin-cursed world, what do we do when faced with desires for ungodly things? Or struggle to desire what is good and matters most? This week Pastor Ron shares a message with us on the importance of seeking God above all else and how to align our hearts and wills with our loving Savior who wants to bring healing and wholeness into our broken lives.

Has God given up on Israel? As we studied through Genesis over the past two years, we read and studied about God's call on the lives of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. We saw God make promises to the patriarchs, and set aside Jacob, who was renamed Israel, to be His people and bear His name as a light to the world. But what place do God's promises have in our modern world? This week we invited guest speaker David Tal to speak on the important place the Israel has in the modern world. We'll see how God's Old Testament promises apply in a New Testament world and how to separate the truth from the lies in our current tumultuous political landscape around the world.

He is Risen! Has the routine of life on earth blocked the glory of the gospel--Jesus is alive! He has conquered death and invites us to eternal life if we come to Him. This Easter morning we celebrated the resurrection of our Savior as we looked at the gifts that the empty tomb has given us to live a life of victory!
