Don't Waste the Quiet
In hospitality, we're conditioned to believe that busy is good and slow is bad. But what if those quieter moments are actually our biggest opportunities?
In this episode of Hospitality Unfiltered, Elizabeth explores why slow seasons aren't wasted time — they're a chance to rethink your strategy, fix what's not working, invest in yourself and your team, and get a little creative.
From tackling that never-ending "someday" list to finding new ways to grow your business, this episode is a reminder that sometimes the most productive thing you can do is embrace the quiet.
Because the quiet isn't the problem. Wasting it is.
Are we so busy trying to be nice that we're forgetting to be clear? In this episode of Hospitality Unfiltered, Elizabeth tackles one of hospitality's biggest leadership mistakes: avoiding uncomfortable conversations. From managing employees to setting guest expectations, she explores why vague communication creates confusion, frustration, and missed opportunities. Because being direct doesn't mean being unkind. Sometimes the kindest thing you can do is simply tell the truth.
Great hospitality starts with clear communication. And so does great leadership.

When "That's Just Him" Becomes Company Culture
Elizabeth hears screaming from her office and finds the whole staff lined up at the hallway windows, silently watching the hotel's owner berate a landscaping crew. What stayed with her was that no one looked surprised. In this episode of Hospitality Unfiltered, she looks at what happens when one person's behavior becomes something everyone learns to live with.

Hospitality is changing faster than ever and the old playbook isn’t going to save you.
Guests are changing. Technology is changing. Expectations are changing. AI is changing the way we work, market, sell, and connect. And yet, too many hotels and hospitality leaders are still doing things the way they’ve always been done.
In this episode of Hospitality Unfiltered with Elizabeth, Elizabeth gets real about what it takes to stay relevant in an industry where standing still can be the fastest way to get left behind.
From embracing new technology and rethinking the guest experience to developing stronger leaders, building meaningful connections, and understanding what today’s travelers actually value.
Adaptation isn’t a buzzword. It’s a business strategy.
Because in hospitality, you have a choice:
Adapt or fade

Beautiful hotels are everywhere—but beautiful doesn’t always mean memorable.
In Start Selling the Experience, Elizabeth breaks down why hospitality brands need to stop marketing rooms, restaurants, pools, and amenities—and start selling the way a guest will feel when they’re there.
Drawing on nearly three decades in hospitality marketing, Elizabeth explores how storytelling, emotion, personality, and authentic experiences can turn a beautiful property into a brand people actually remember—and want to book.
Because guests don’t just buy a hotel room.
They buy the experience.

Hospitality is changing. The question is: are we changing with it?
Welcome to Hospitality Unfiltered with Elizabeth, the podcast about what’s really happening inside…
I’m Elizabeth, and after nearly 30 years working in hospitality across hotels, resorts, restaurants, sales, marketing, consulting, and executive recruitment, I’ve seen this industry from just about every angle. I’ve watched brands rise, trends disappear, great leaders transform businesses, and companies get stuck doing things a certain way simply because “that’s how we’ve always done it.”
This podcast is where we talk about all of it.
From the changing expectations of today’s traveler and the future of luxury hospitality to leadership, hiring, sales, marketing, guest experience, relevance, and the decisions happening behind closed doors, nothing is off the table.
Some episodes will challenge conventional thinking. Some will tell stories from inside the industry. And some may make you rethink what great hospitality actually looks like.
Because occupancy, ADR and RevPAR matter, but they’re not the whole story anymore.
The hospitality companies that thrive in the years ahead will be the ones willing to evolve, stay curious, take risks, create experiences people actually remember, and occasionally admit that the old way simply isn’t working anymore.
No corporate talking points. No perfectly polished answers.
Just experience, perspective, a little humor, and candid conversations about an industry I still believe is one of the greatest businesses in the world.
This is Hospitality Unfiltered with Elizabeth.
Let’s talk about what everyone else is thinking.
