Panic-struck, Charlie and Beatrice decide to leave London with Anna to go to Florida. Once there, Charlie confesses to the girls that he thinks he is being followed. At the library, Charlie manages to find newspaper articles about Eugene, and thanks to a serendipitous encounter with Isabella on the street, they finally discover what happened to Eugene.

The 3 roommates also received a strange parcel, mailed 58 years earlier, which has just returned to the address of its sender; a certain Madam M. Gallagher.
