Ep. #12 It's beginning to look a lot like ......... THANKSGIVING!! Welcome to holiday SZN, fam! House of Jane is back after a short break. I felt it was important to break last week to focus on more important subject matter - the election and being a decent human being. So we are back in action this week with an episode all about the holidays!

Staying on-brand for the year 2020, I think the holidays may look a little different this year. Whether that's making alternate plans, down-sizing or having to cancel certain holiday traditions, Covid is still present and in some ways dictating how we'll celebrate. In this episode, I'm not only calling you out with the results of last week's 'Podcast Poll' but I'm flipping the script and asking you all a bunch of questions about your holiday plans. I'm also giving all you Instagram-ers a chance to win a Starbucks gift card by engaging with me on social media. Head over to @houseofjanepodcast to see how to enter!

In the meantime, let's do our best to keep up with holiday traditions and be there for your loved ones. Let's help each other keep everyone's spirits bright this SZN!

  • There's No Place Like Home

Ep. #11: Dorothy was right, there's just no place like home! Guys, I've been talking about this trip for weeks now, so what's one more episode?! JK, but not really, because this week I'm giving a recap of my time back in Massachusetts.  Since this was my first time travelling on a plane during the COVID pandemic, I recap my experience and preach to you about enrolling in Global Entry (it's tremendous and I highly recommend!) I had the best time spending QT with my parents, brother and family friends. I am also 110% guilty of acting like a tourist in my own town, but New England falls are unbeatable.

And while this has been years in the making, I FINALLY MET MY BEST FRIEND'S HUSBAND!! Shout out to Chris and also this is my public apology for us keeping you up until 4am! Also, this year has been trying in many ways for all of us. But as we near the holidays, remember to prioritize your loved ones and the people who have your best interest at heart. Keep your peeps close and if you get the opportunity to be together (safety) take advantage!

And finally, I wrap up this episode by asking you all a favor - PLEASE VOTE if you haven't already. Just do it. Exercise this right you are so blessed to have. VOTE! And now for the regularly scheduled shameless plug... if you guys could do me a favor (if you haven’t already) and make sure to subscribe to House of Jane Podcast on Spotify, Anchor and Apple Podcasts. If you’re an Apple Podcasts listener, please leave House of Jane a review - it's so helpful to grown the podcast! And be sure to follow along with me on instagram @houseofjanepodcast!

  • Plane Day Pt. II

Ep. #10: It’s here! Plane Day Part Two!

If you tuned in last week, you know I was headed home to Massachusetts for the first time in over a year. And holy crap, did I sure miss it! It was amazing being home and seeing New England in the fall in all of it’s glory, spending time with family and friends, over-eating and playing golf.

But, even better, I had the pleasure of hosting my two very first guests on ‘House of Jane’ - my parents! Welcome to podcasting, Paul and Christine! Episode Ten is truly a family affair. In Part Two, my parents and I dive further into my adoption story. We sit down to let them elaborate and share their memories and experiences first hand. A lot of laughs and a few funny stories plus you‘ll hear about a few of the differences between mine and my brother’s adoption process.

Again, releasing this Part Two right before my Plane Day this weekend. A special day for our family to celebrate together. Hope you guys enjoy, I can’t wait to get these two (plus my brother) back on the podcast for more episodes in the future!

Finally, it’s time for my shameless plug... if you guys could do me a favor (if you haven’t already) and make sure to subscribe to House of Jane Podcast on Spotify, Anchor and Apple Podcasts. • Plane Day Pt. I

Ep. #9: You’ve all seen the movies and tv shows where they make that joke about the adopted kid being called Fed-Ex or being dropped off by a stork. Well in this episode we’re getting real about adoption and surprise, it’s a girl... ME!

In honor of my Plane Day later this month, we’re getting into some more not-so-plain-Jane details about me! I was in fact adopted a the age of 4 months and this is part 1 of that adoption story!

I am also super excited to be headed home for a quick visit with my family, just in time to be with the to celebrate my Plane Day. Don’t worry, I’ll get into all of those details in this episode and hopefully fo part 2, we’ll have some special guests joining in!

In other news, basketball season is FINALLY over and I got my first Covid test. Can’t wait to share a bit more with you on the personal side, thanks for checking this episode out!

  • CHANGE

Ep. #8: Once again I dropped the ball without any clutch music to play for the intro of this episode! So you can just imagine ‘Changes’ by Tupac is playing in the background. But, today we’re talking change. It’s a new season, a new month, change is upon us. But do you associate change with positive or negative feelings? I asked you guys in another podcast poll and I was kind of surprised which why the poll went!

In this episode, I admit to you that I embrace change depending on the situation that I’m in - I can see the positive and negatives but do believe it’s based on your current situation. We’re also talking sports — obviously. And looking forward to a new change of scenery. *My Lakers comments and NFL Week 4 comments are unfortunately no longer relevant. As Bill Belichick would say, ‘we’re on to week 5.’

Moral of this episode, change is inevitable. Embrace it. And don’t forget to f*cking vote!!!!

Hopefully through 8 episodes, I haven’t driven you away yet, so make sure to subscribe to House of Jane Podcast on Spotify, Anchor and Apple Podcasts. If you’re an Apple Podcasts listener, please leave a review if you're feeling generous and then follow me on instagram @houseofjanepodcast!

  • You’re so Vain

Ep. #7: Honestly, this episode title just floods my memory of Kate Hudson and Matthew McConaughy from the one scene in ‘How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days’. But, this is kind of how I feel talking all about myself - vain.

This week’s episode is kind of a get to know me type deal. I am so thankful that I have such a great base of supporters who tune in to listen to my episodes. While most are probably friends and family, I recognize that some of my listeners I have not yet had the pleasure of meeting yet, so it was about time I shared a little more about myself with you all. Despite this being one of the most awkward episodes I’ve yet to record, hopefully it sheds a little insight to the person you’ve been tuning into!

If you‘re enjoying these episodes, make sure to subscribe to House of Jane Podcast on Spotify, Anchor and Apple Podasts. You can always leave me a rating or a review on Apple Podcasts and as always, I love to hear from you guys! If you’re down to shoot the sh!t, send me a DM over on instagram @houseofjanepodcast!

  • Guess Who's Back

Ep. #6: What's up stranger?! JK since I've been the stranger around here. Holy moly, you guys. Honestly, some of you may not have even noticed but I'm officially back from this highly unanticipated three week hiatus! This episode pretty unplanned and we're just here to shoot the sh!t. I had something else planned, but I want to save that for a rainy day.

Everyone has schedules, everyone has their own stuff to deal with and that couldn't be more on par for how I've felt these past few weeks with work. But, work sucks and it's not fun to talk about. Lucky for me, I had one of the best BEST weekends and belated birthday celebrations over Labor Day Weekend with my two very best friends from Nashville, Mary and Danielle!

I'm also tapping into how important it is to take care of yourself, including your mind! There's always a light at the end of the tunnel, even if you don't feel that way all the time.  Love yourself, peeps.

  • CTRL + ALT + DEL

Ep. #5: I'm giving this week a hard reset and will be CTRL + ALT + Deleting all of the bad habits I've incorporated into my life lately! (Honestly, I may even need to consider deleting my UberEats app..)

It's almost September which means back to school (not for me, bless), a new season, and a great time to revamp my weekly routines. I won't be sharing my excuses with you, but I do admit to all the late night pizza I've been consuming. By embracing this 'back to school/ fresh start' vibes, I'm kicking these bad habits to the curb and I've reached out to you guys for your advice. I'll be sharing your feedback, tips and tricks on how to get back into a routine and hit the reset button.

Also sending all the love to our teachers and to the freshmen heading off to school during these unprecedented times. If you know a teacher, thank them and if you know a freshmen heading off to college, send some good juju their way!

  • Under the Influence

Ep. #4: Happy Hump Day, everyone! This week I'm talking about being under the influence............ of social media (not alcohol!). Hindsight 20/20, I should have recorded this episode with a glass of vino, just to be funny. But, despite the play on words here, I'm getting into the cold hard truth that social media is taking over our society. Whether it's a fleeting trend, a social movement, straight news or a brand new product you just have to *swipe up for*, there has been a very evident shift in the societal pressures that come with your social media presence. I'm guilty of using apps like Instagram to promote this podcast and I can also blame my quarantine shopping habits on the social media influencers, so maybe I'm part of this problem. But is social media making the world a better place or is it causing more harm?

  • Work Hard, Play Hard
Ep. #3: Welcome back! This week, I got my sh!t together and recorded early in hopes of releasing to you guys in a more timely manner. In episode three, I dive into my experience working in sports. (I also definitely dropped an F bomb or two in this one - sorry in advance Mom and Dad!) I tried to keep this as fun as possible, but let's face it, work isn't always an exciting topic to discuss. But what I've learned is the harder you work in this industry, the harder you get to play. This industry has taught me many life lessons, paved new roads to adventure and also led me to meet some of my best friends!
