Your home already has a culture.
The question is: Are you intentionally creating it, or simply allowing it to form?
Recently, we started noticing more disrespect, harsh words, sibling conflict, and dishonor showing up in our own home. Instead of trying to fix everything at once, we decided to identify one thing and intentionally go after it.
For our family, that thing is honor.
In this episode, we're bringing you into what we're implementing in real time—from defining what honor looks like, to connecting it to Scripture, establishing clear consequences, and helping our kids learn to speak life over one another.
We also talk about why family culture can't simply be imposed on our children. If we want them to live out a value, we have to be willing to ask whether we're modeling it first.
In this episode, we talk about:
- Why prayer changes the way we discipline our children
- Why correction and consequences are still necessary
- How unity impacts the culture of a home
- Why you shouldn't try to fix ten parenting issues at once
- How we're currently teaching honor through words and actions
- The practical consequences we're putting around dishonor
- Why we use Scripture as part of both correction and formation
- Why the values we want in our kids have to begin with us
- How to build a home founded on the Word of God
We're not sharing a perfect system or a finished formula. We're inviting you into something we're still working through in our own home.
Our hope is that this episode helps you slow down and ask:
What is the one thing God may be asking us to strengthen in our home right now?

We were pulling a few verses from memory in this episode and mixed up a couple references along the way 😅
The verses we were referring to are Matthew 12:34 / Luke 6:45 for “out of the abundance of the heart…,” Matthew 5:9for “blessed are the peacemakers…,” and Psalm 19:14 for “may the words of my mouth…”
We wanted to make sure you had the correct references as you listen and study along.
