In this episode of House of Roberts, we’re answering questions from you — starting with one we think a lot of couples experience after having kids: How do you keep from becoming roommates?

We talk about why good things can still get out of order, how easily a marriage can become kid-centered, why continuing to date each other matters, and some of the simple rhythms we use to stay connected even when life is busy or money is tight.

We also talk about something our kids are learning every time they watch our marriage: what it looks like for a husband and wife to actually enjoy, prioritize, pursue, and make room for one another.

Recently, we started noticing more disrespect, harsh words, sibling conflict, and dishonor showing up in our own home. Instead of trying to fix everything at once, we decided to identify one thing and intentionally go after it.

For our family, that thing is honor.

In this episode, we're bringing you into what we're implementing in real time—from defining what honor looks like, to connecting it to Scripture, establishing clear consequences, and helping our kids learn to speak life over one another.

The school year can bring helpful structure—but if we aren’t intentional, school, sports, homework, and activities can quickly begin controlling the rhythm of our homes.
