Guys, we made it! There is now enough podcast material to create a whole frickin' album! And that for me, is a wrap for Season 1. Whoop! Here's a quick run down on some of the key points from my amazing guests to remind you of the adventure we've been on together these past few months, plus I divulge just how much of a misfit I've really felt at certain times in my life. If that's you, I hope this slightly vulnerable episode helps you see the beauty of being 100% yourself because who the hell wants to be the same as everyone else anyway?! Disrupting doesn't come from comfort zones and doing things differently is what's going to get you the life you truly want. Don't forget to hit 'follow/subscribe' to find out when the next episode drops or sign up to my monthly Mischief Mail newsletter for some behind-the-scenes on upcoming guests...!

This week’s guest is a rebel of the fashion industry having launched a brand that reimagines kids’ clothing. With a surname like Vandal - or vandal in English, Kat was always destined for mischief but she never expected to end up starting her own brand! After being made redundant from the beauty industry during the pandemic of 2020, she decided the time was right to pursue an idea, a gap in the market for comfortable, stylish, practical clothing that would create the perfect outfit for kids to get messy and help parents with effortless, long lasting, affordable pieces. This episode is so much more than a brand bio however as we discuss the harsh realities that working mums face trying to hold down a career and be a present parent, the struggles of starting a business in an industry you have no experience in and how making time for creativity, play, laughter and silliness is fundamental to a happy life!

You may recognise the name Plight Club as the podcast sponsor for Season 1. Well, in this episode, I have the absolute pleasure of talking to the brand’s founder, Adam Slawson and I’m so excited to share our insightful conversation with you! (Not least because he also hails from the Midlands like me!) Let’s see if we can help you find the fun and freedom you’re maybe looking for, understand your emotions better or simply think about things slightly differently. We dive into what the brand stands for, the power of vulnerability and meaningful connections and how even out of difficulties like navigating anxiety, beautiful ideas and careers are born…

What happens when you feel inspired to take action and you actually follow through even though you’re way out of your comfort zone? Could a hobby connect you with a whole network of people you never knew but who would then become your new best friends? And how do we start something that elevates and empowers other women, simply by tapping into the things that bring us joy?! All these things are possible when we commit to doing more of the things that light us up, cultivate serious confidence along the way and then use what we know to create a positive impact by helping others…

If you’ve ever entertained the idea of a creative career or wanted to pursue a creative interest but put the dream aside in favour of a more sensible path, allow me to introduce you to Sara. After a decade spent unable to fully acknowledge her talent as a musician, listening to well-meaning friends and family who urged her to choose a 'safer' option, Sara Belle was jolted awake by the passing of her father and forced to question all her decisions up to that point. Was this really how she wanted to spend the rest of her life, shying away from her love of bass-playing and believing she wasn’t good enough to succeed in the music industry? Or could she give herself permission at long last, not only to pursue her dream but to then go on and help others strengthen their own creative power through her coaching? Claiming your creativity doesn’t mean you need to turn it into business or even a side hustle - simply saying yes to a part of you that has lay dormant can transform how you show up in the world, give you a sense of fulfilment and consequently change your life…

How many times have you heard the phrase 'take a leap of faith' and it made you roll your eyes or screw your face up sceptically? I know exactly how you feel!! "It's alright for them, they're not doing the thing", right?! Doing something based on trust alone can be scary. Where's the logic? the proof that it will work? the money at the end of your labour? I totally get it, that was me too! But, thanks to this podcast, I have finally understood what it means to back yourself and how freeing at can be when you stop stressing about the end point. If you feel like you're struggling to get off the starting blocks with your idea, it might be because you're too focused on what you want to achieve at the end. Take a listen to this week's episode and see if it helps you to shift your mindset...

This episode could also have been called 'How to work in the fashion industry on YOUR terms' or 'why it's OK to be a multi passionate' or even 'how being fully YOU is your biggest asset!' Clare Alexander, a Fashion Brand Consultant, and I discuss all of these points as well as what it's like when you (finally) pass your motorbike test! If you've ever felt like a misfit at work, been curious about the fashion industry or just wondered how on earth you can align your varied interests and turn them into a career, you'll be inspired when you hear that it's not only entirely possible, but often the exact thing that ends up setting you apart from the competition...

**TRIGGER WARNING: This episode talks about Stage 4 cancer. If you, or someone you know, has recently been affected by cancer or terminal illness, you may find this honest conversation difficult to listen to.**
My guest this week is Sophie Umhofer, a motorsport Team Co-ordinator and mother of 2 whose life was turned upside down when she was diagnosed with bowel cancer at just 37. We discuss the surreal moment of her diagnosis, the struggles she's faced during treatment and how, despite being given only a 5% chance of survival, she found the courage to say YES to life and encourage others to do the same...
