  • We Remember 9/11 | 09-11-20
Jimmy Barrett and Dennis Spellman take you through the stories that matter on the morning of 09/11/20.

The annual, hallowed tradition of family members reading the names of the nearly 3,000 victims of the 9/11 attacks will take place again this year. The Tunnel to Towers Foundation, created in honor of FDNY firefighter Stephen Siller who gave up his life to save others on 9/11, announced Thursday it is inviting 9/11 victims’ families to take part in a memorial ceremony on Friday, September 11, marking the 19th anniversary of the attacks. Tunnel to Towers decided to take this step after the National September 11 Memorial & Museum announced the reading of the names would not happen at the memorial ceremony this year, citing COVID-19 concerns. Calling in is National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund CEO Marcia Ferranto.

Since the onset of the pandemic, there’s been a general feeling that young people haven’t been taking mask and social distancing mandates seriously, leading to silly GIFs and mocking videos of people partying on beaches (c’mon, we’ve all seen them). But is there validity in that general feeling? According to Zenreach, the walk-through marketing company, no. It’s not valid. Zenreach took a closer look at the people who are frequenting traditionally high-traffic businesses like restaurants and bars. Interestingly, what they determined was that no specific age group or gender has been significantly more irresponsible than the other. While close in numbers, women as well as 55-64 year-olds actually showed the greatest increases in traffic at both restaurants and bars. Jonathan Horowitz of Convive Hospitality calls us to break down these recent findings.

The Biden-Harris energy plan would inflict California-style blackouts, sky-high costs on our entire nation. If California can’t get renewable power or high-speed rail right, how can Biden and Harris make it work? We speak with Todd Staples, The President of the Texas Oil & Gas Association.

  • Critical Race Theory & The 1619 Project | 09-09-20
Jimmy Barrett and Dennis Spellman take you through the stories that matter on the morning of 09/09/2020.

President Trump daring the Democrats to defend the ‘critical race theory’ and the 1619 project as he moves to suspend indoctrination in schools and government agencies. Calling in is education expert Jean Burk.

We used to say that the economy was always the big issues in presidential races and while the economy will be an issue, it certainly isn’t the main thing that will drive voters to the polls. So what is? Is it the rampant lawlessness exhibited by the rioters? Is it the covid response? Anything else? Remember when immigration was a top issue in 2016? Nobody is even talking about illegal immigration now – yet it’s still happening? Healthcare was a big issue in past elections too – don’t hear much about that this election cycle. We speak with Republican strategist Jessica Colon.
