Our guest today is Shereen Gomaa, owner of the nonprofit catering company, Delicious by Shereen. Shereen launched her organization with the primary goal to help the refugee community in Winston-Salem, NC. She does this by empowering refugee women to use their cooking skills, while preserving their dignity by creating the opportunity to work rather than ask for help.
Today we discuss Shereen's story and why she felt such a strong desire to empower refugee women, how food can not only create bonds within a particular culture, but can also be a means of sharing that culture with others, and why sharing a meal is one of the most powerful ways to strengthen relationships within a family & a community.
