How can a Professional Organizer help you?
You may be wondering what the heck a professional organizer has to do with Special Needs. Maybe it's not what usually comes to mind when you think of resources. Yet they can be a HUGE help.

If you're anything like I was you're probably wondering what the heck a professional organizer has to do with Special Needs families - this is probably not what comes to mind when you think of resources. Nothing could be further from the truth.
There have been times it was all I could do to get out of bed. I felt overwhelmed, especially after my wife died. In the first few months, I was on autopilot. Over time it got better. Eventually, I was able to empty the house we owned in Connecticut (I lived in Maryland when she died).
Having someone like Vernestine would have helped a lot. I wouldn't have felt so alone. I would have had "permission" to take my time and maybe not felt like such a failure. And I don't I would have been as stressed about doing everything "right".
Think of all the IEP and medical documents you have. Filing for SSI can be a nightmare. They want copies of everything. It helps to keep things in order. An Organizer could help you sort documents by date. This will make it easier for you when you file.
Vernestine explains an organizer is not a "cleaner". They can be your cheerleader or accountability partner. They won't "judge" you. They are there to help you set a baseline. They will give you tools you can use when they leave.
Professional Organizers can help us with our aging parents too. How many of you have parents who liked to collect things? Imagine if you have to help them downsize. Storage units can get expensive quickly.
