Websites for Coaches Tip: How To Best Structure Your Website
I’ve been asked by a number of fellow coaches in the past week about the setup of their website and how they should best structure it if they’re looking to look after different types of people.  So, if they have different focuses, different target markets, what’s the best way to setup the website.  So, in this video, I’m going to go through that with you.  So, let’s get into it.
Hi, my name is Jamie, founder of Technology for Coaches, and today’s video is all about how to best structure your websites.  And funny enough, it’s not really a conversation about websites; it’s more of a conversation about marketing in your business.
What do I mean by that?
Well, in a live call yesterday, with my Q&A group, it was all about what one of the members asked, “Jamie, how do I look after two different target markets on my one website?”  I also just got an e-mail in from over in London asking the same question.  So, when I hear quite a few questions being repeated, I record a video to try to help more people - that’s what this is.
Now, when I talk about it’s not about websites, per se, it’s about your marketing and about how you approach your business.  So, let me talk, use me as an example, so you can see what I’m talking about.
Easier Technology With Technology For Coaches
Now, I have Technology for Coaches as a very specific focus, to help coaches globally to use technology a lot easier or to give them help with technology.  The arms and legs, all my team are all super technology whizzes, and they can help coaches in their technology.  That’s Technology for Coaches, and that is a very specific stream in my business; so the marketing is all about Technology for Coaches, the language is all about Technology for Coaches, and when you visit Technology for Coaches, assuming you’re a coach and you need help with technology, the language is going to be talking to you.  So, that’s Technology for Coaches as one part of my business.
Now, the fundamentals of helping with technology, especially in the automation space, which is what a lot of people come to me for, that’s in automatingyou.com.  Now, automatingyou.com takes the same underlying skills in my business and then makes it packaged up for other professions, not just coaching.  So then, that’s a marketing conversation of how I can leverage the skills of the marketing and technology automation side that I bring to the world to another group of people outside of coaches.  Now, hopefully you can see with that example that I’ve got two different frames of reference, I might have the underlying skills, but I’ve got two different frames of marketing reference, and then they are represented by two different websites.
A Website To Check Me Out…
Now, what also happens with me is people want to check me out, so I have jamiemckean.com, which is the site that people can go to, check me out, and it has my backstory, my about me.  What I find is that people will bounce between these sites to do their diligence to check me out, to say, yes, these are all congruent with what Jamie talks about, this is all trying to help people with leverage across all of these points, but underlying is still me.
So, for you, if you’re trying to talk to two different target markets, then likely you are going to want to have two websites, because you’re going to want to have different messages that when someone goes there, when they visit that site,
