In this episode we revisit the conversation of defining a woman in our culture. Obviously, in the midst of a FULL KIKI, drinks, laughter, interruptions are to be expected in a safe space so there is no holding back . It's truly raw, BARE as we say in the Caribbean. Tackling the complexity of motherhood and how we suppress our own emotions to be of service to our families and friends. Being a woman does not equate to motherhood- it is a choice, it does not add or remove value to the individual. 

How we evolve as a generation is not based on the past but the present. What is now accessible both emotionally, intellectually and as a society. Take into account the times? Is the standard we set for ourselves as women aligned with the present or past? When was the last time you had the conversation with the women in your life? Taking the relationship beyond brunch? 

P.S It is safe to say, I am louder when we kiki :)

Today, I address the pause in episodes and pell back some of the compartments in my life. In the midst of diving into a reset. Have you ever had a true mental reset? Emotionally, we tend to recharge some what subconsciously but have you ever - paused- to evaluate if this recharge came with a mental reset? 

What is a RESET? Is it when the thoughts, goals and vision of yesterday no longer align with today? or just take me back to the top; Let's run it again.

These three words are often misinterpreted and defined by a persons upbringing and experiences. With that being known, I find our society dismissive of others because we are not familiar with the depth of their culture. 

In the episode, I peel back the curtain a bit and share my experience growing up as a Jamaican child in America. My grandmother's roots in Cuba that brought her to Jamaica did not make the recording as her passing is still a hard truth to accept. In time, I think it will be valuable to interview my family about how we came to live a life filled with diversity because love was the driving force in our family not race. 

How do you divine culture and ethnicity with someone of a different race ?

Sharing gems they have acquired along the way to self acceptance and value. Some of which are forgiveness,  accountability and self-love.
