We’re finally tackling one of Drew Barrymore’s most beloved films, 1998’s Ever After! In our discussion about the Cinderella story, we talk about the personal significance of the role to Drew, the beautiful makeup by Kim Greene, the stunning costumes by Jenny Beaven, and fun behind the scenes anecdotes. Plus we count how many People magazine issues Drew has graced the cover of and flashback to the 2010 Golden Globes in This Week in Drew History.
For our last episode of the year, we are so honored to have makeup artist Kim Greene on the show! Kim worked on 11 different Drew Barrymore films, from the mid-1990s to the early 2000s. She shares with us the process of creating the "breathe" look from Ever After, helping Josie Grossie go from ugly duckling to cool girl in Never Been Kissed, and aging Drew over the course of 20 years in Riding in Cars with Boys. Plus we hear about some of her favorite Charlie's Angels disguises, Drew reading poetry in a canoe, and the story of the legendary smiley face mirror (IYKYK, Drewbies!). We can't thank Kim enough for this delightful and fun conversation. Be sure to follow her on Instagram @kimgreene.
Our girl Drew Barrymore is a multi-hyphenate and part of that is being a badass business woman! Drew has founded and ran many companies and today we are filling you in on all of them. We discuss her cosmetics brand that kicked it all off, Flower Beauty, and its many offshoots, including Flower Home and Flower Hair Tools. We also fill you in on some of her now defunct companies like Barrymore Wines and Dear Drew (RIP!) plus her latest ventures – Beautiful kitchenware and DREW magazine!
It’s the most wonderful time of the year! To get in the holiday spirit, we’re discussing the 1999 animated Christmas special Olive, the Other Reindeer. Not only did Drew Barrymore voice the titular character, she also co-produced the movie with Flower Films. We adore this sweet little film from such an exciting era in Drew’s career. We also correct Drew on what her actual first magazine cover was and speculate on the identity of her friend turned one-time fling!
Ready to take another trip down Drew Barrymore magazine memory lane? This week we are going through Us magazine’s March 1997 issue. This one has a special place in our hearts, due to Mark Seliger’s stunning portfolio of photos and Chris Heath’s incredible article. Also we get into more details about the Saturday Morning Cartoons special from 1995 and discuss new rare photos Drew shared this week!
Is there a Drewbie around who doesn't absolutely idealize Drew Barrymore circa 1995? We go through this wild and exciting year when free-spirited Drew was constantly in the public eye. Not only was she promoting Boys on the Side, Mad Love, and Batman Forever, but she also filmed two more movies and made the rounds on talk shows and dozens of magazines. There are countless reasons that this year holds a special place in every Drewbie's heart!
On this very special episode, we sit down with Drew Barrymore’s former personal assistant, Tony Crago! We were so thrilled to chat with Tony and hear all kinds of fun stories from his time with Drew. He tells us about things like being an extra in Never Been Kissed and also making sure to always be on top of Drew’s iced tea addiction! In What’s New with Drew, we discuss the past week on The Drew Barrymore Show and the holiday issue of DREW magazine, among other things!
